Work trip to South Asia
More recognition in work
A great year for DD in all ways

Can you name three good things that came out of 2018? (Can you tell I am home alone on NYE drinking tea?)

Brew Cheers OP! I've brought cake as I'm home on my own as well tonight! Cake
Three things?

  1. I started a new course which will help me advance my career.
  2. Started going more 'green' and generally living a healthier lifestyle.
  3. An old friend I haven't seen in years came to visit me (from another country) and we had the best time.

Had two really lovely holidays
Attended a fabulous wedding at a really unusual venue
Finally went NC with my father and my life is so much better for it.

Cake? I have tea and a sack of funny nuts.
What was the course?

Blush Er, after boasting of going 'healthy' this year I should say it's some sort of fruit and veg cake, but hey ho, it's NYE! I've got chocolate, a sponge and champagne cupcakes. Grin

Maelstrop · 31/12/2018 21:59

Got out of a job with horrible management.

Had a 'utopian' weekend with family. Really amazing.

Investigated our pensions/savings and realised we can retire 10 years earlier than the government would have us believe.

VittysCardigan · 31/12/2018 22:22

This text i've just received has absolutely made my day/year

Thank you for being a part of mine. For teaching me feminist ideas in a way I had never thought of them before. For supporting me and encouraging me not to be nervous to tell people I am gay. And mostly for being a great work mum and a damn fucking brilliant friend. Xxxxx

supergrains · 31/12/2018 22:23

Lost weight
The beginning of a light at the end of a dark tunnel on a personal matter
None of my family members I care about died
2018 has been shit, but I've had a run of shit years lately....waiting for my luck to turn Wine

SausageSimon · 31/12/2018 22:34

I got my dream dog
My son has settled into school really well
I got a business loan approved (haven't had chance to use it though so it doesn't make me too excited Grin)

Bit of a shit year other than that but those have been the highlights!

userschmoozer · 31/12/2018 22:36

I cleared my overdraft, lost a stone, and DS1 found a job.

MissDai5y · 31/12/2018 22:39

DD was born
Moved flat
Started chatting to new people, possibly making new friends (cute baby works well as an ice breaker)

2019 is going to be amaze balls

Spotsbeforemyeyes · 31/12/2018 22:42

I won an award at the biggest cake competition in the world.

My Autistic DD started secondary school after a year off and has made some friends.

My eldest DD is happy

TakenForSlanted · 31/12/2018 22:43

My boss and his boss going all out to secure a big promotion for me - I've got the job, but their support meant so much more than the status or pay that come with it.

My lovely friend getting pregnant after having been told she was infertile - unexpected and unplanned but I just know she'll do great as a mum.

Being called a role model and an inspiration. They're wrong, but I felt so chuffed.

GinaLinetti99 · 31/12/2018 22:45

Finished a helpful course of therapy.
Got a new job.
Brilliant holiday in May.

namechangedyetagain · 31/12/2018 22:46

2018 was spectacularly shit as we had to move house 3 times and my beloved DB dies suddenly. It's been the worse time of my life. But two little things:

We bought a house (no longer at landlord mercy) and it's finally starting to feel like home.

My children have amazed me by being grown up, kind, thoughtful souls. They have dealt with much more than any child should. I'm immensely proud of them all. They are literally the reason I'm still here putting one foot in the other.

I don't expect next year to be much better as my grandparents v elderly and poorly.
I think I just need to accept that my life won't improve. I do hope though that somewhere I may find some glimmers of joy as forever seems a long time to be unhappySad

Cornishclio · 31/12/2018 22:49

DGD2 was born
I took early retirement at the beginning of 2018
All my closest family members are relatively healthy and happy unlike 2017 when my stepdad was in hospital for 6 months and not expected to survive(he has) my brother was diagnosed with ms(thankfully stable), my BIL left my Dsis after 29 years of marriage and my son in law ended up in hospital with staphylococcus infection and sepsis and pneumonia. Was glad to see the back of that year!!

umpteennamechanges · 31/12/2018 22:53
  1. Buying and moving into our first home (we hope to be here for 10 years)
  1. Finding a contract role where I genuinely like the people I work with and the company I work for
  1. Amazing honeymoon in South Africa and Mauritius
LittleScottieDog · 31/12/2018 22:54
  1. A wonderful family beach holiday.
  2. Made a new friend.
  3. Giving birth to my son last week!
