Does anyone actually like the Cornish Wafer? What crackers always get left in your house?

The Hovis biscuit isn't that popular either.

Hobos biscuits are our family's treat biscuit of choice!!! Not for cheese( Carr's water biscuits/ melts/ or oat cakes) but we stockpile them .

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/12/2018 20:20

Hobos!

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/12/2018 20:20

Hovis ffs!!

I challenge you all to give Digestives a chance. The combination of slightly sweet and salty salty cheese is heaven sent

ScreamingValenta · 01/01/2019 02:06

Digestives and cheese need no second chances from me. If the resultant calories could only be zeroed ...

Theweasleytwins · 01/01/2019 02:29

I ate so many water biscuits when i was pregnant- second favourite after cornish wafer with Somerset brie on (which i wasnt allowed)

Leeds2 · 01/01/2019 03:07

I love the Hovis ones with cheese. No butter though.
Love Digestives and cheese too.
Like Cornish Wafers.
Would leave Jacob's Cream Crackers until everything else had gone.

Cornish wafers and water biscuits can GTF. Pointless things!

MacarenaFerreiro · 01/01/2019 09:21

Cornish wafers are my favourite! I also like the little round ones with seeds.

Not a hovis fan. Too sweet.

JacquesHammer · 01/01/2019 09:30

I like Hovis (when loaf shaped!) and Cornish wafers.

My cheese biscuit of choice is a Bath Oliver

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2019 09:42

Cornish wafers were considered a bit of treat when I was a kid - eaten by nibbling along the lines. Ritz crackers were definitely a Christmas-only luxury. The rest of the year it was just cream crackers. Nowadays Cornish are ok but a bit disappointing and it's always the cream crackers and whatever the rectangular browner ones are which get left till last.

Best ever is strong cheddar on top of a gingernut biscuit. Don't mock it until you've tried it Grin

FlibbertyGiblets · 01/01/2019 12:41

The only oatcake worth eating is a parkin. Hahaha. God I'm funny.

Ahem.

nicslackey · 01/01/2019 12:49

Only buy water biscuits for cheese although will an odd time have mature cheddar with a digestive. Love the sweet and savoury together. Cornish wafers are the worst, just taste stale!

LostDog29Dec · 01/01/2019 12:54

Can someone please tell me why the pepper biscuits in the packs are delicious but if I buy a pack of just them they bite my tongue off?Sad

boatyardblues · 01/01/2019 12:57

Everyone in our house loves Cornish wafers - they go first from the selection box and we buy them solo in packets during the year. Hovis are magic with strong blue cheeses like Stilton, so DH and I snaffle those first. We took the precaution on buying an extra pack of Hovis digestive crackers this year so things didn’t get ugly on Boxing Day.

All of them. I love a cracker selection box and for me that's Christmas. You can keep your Quality Street.
Cornish wafers and Hovis go with mature cheddar, or old Amsterdammer, and fig or chilli chutney. Black pepper, chive, and cheddar crackers go with mild brie or cream cheese. Water biscuits, cream crackers, and multigrain go with stilton.
And rough oatcakes go with anything.
Fine oatcakes are for children.

So tawny, ruby, or white?
And where do we stand on Madeira and sherry?

bibbitybobbityyhat · 01/01/2019 13:28

Oh crumbs Baroness. I'm supposed to be filling my head with thoughts of healthy eating and no alcohol, but now I could murder a selection of your cheese and cracker combinations and a lovely glass of chilled pale sherry too if you don't mind.
