Hairbrushes for long hair

Does anyone have any recommendations for really good hairbrushes for a hair sore 7 year old with really long hair? My current one is on its way out after a good few years. I want one that untangles the hair easily with minimum fuss. Thank you.

Tangle teaser

Mewe · 30/12/2018 17:21

My hair is just above hip length and I use a Tangle Teaser. I used to have Denman brushes but they used to pull. I have found the TT are very gentle.

Tangle Teaser. Life changing.

Looks like it's unanimous so tangle teaser it is. Thank you for your replies.

Another vote for Tangle Teaser. They get through the knots much quicker & without yanking.

Also recommend a tangle teezer, but if her hair is making her head sore then she probably needs some of the length cut off

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 30/12/2018 17:27

Got my nearly 8 year old DD a tangle teezer brush from look fantastic for Xmas and she's done her own hair since! Not too sure how long she'll keep it up but her hair is waist length and she's managing no problem.

I have long thick hair and find that any large brush that doesn't have bobbles on the ends of the bristles is good.

elaine26 · 30/12/2018 17:37

My dd's tt makes her hair static and frizzy, she's had it for ages tho so maybe time for a new one

Becca19962014 · 30/12/2018 17:39

I found the tangle teezer brush was best, not the hand held small ones, easier to grip.

RandomMess · 30/12/2018 17:40

I found the cheap copies as good as the real deal!

AlanThePig · 30/12/2018 17:49

Tangle Angel is probably better for longer hair, the handle makes it much easier. Love mine.

I have bought a tangle teezer, one with a handle. I think it's actually the thickness which makes it take so long to brush. Absolutely no way would she have it cut, she loves that hair. If it was up to me it would be shoulder length.

I bosight a tangle teezer. Personally I didn’t rate it. I then I bought a large puddle brush from boots for around £10. Unsure of the name of it (made by Boots) but it’s the best brush I’ve ever had!

Liz38 · 30/12/2018 20:03

In addition to a tangle teaser, have you tried Argan oil in her hair? We use it on DDs long hair and it was a game changer.

footballfever4 · 30/12/2018 20:05

The wetbrush is amazing. It gets through all knots with no pain.

JaggyJumper · 30/12/2018 20:06

The wet brush I find better than a tangle teaser as it has a handle

APositiveMind · 30/12/2018 20:10

I use a Denman, with boat bristles. Takes a little longer to brush as the bristles are so flexible but it's so much less painful and damaging to my hair. Feel so soft once it's dry too! Highly recommend.

babypsmum · 30/12/2018 20:12

Wet Brush is a million times better than Tangle Teezer, much gentler on the hair but gets knots out quicker.

HabbyHadno · 30/12/2018 20:14

An Elemis wooden paddle brush. It's the ONLY brush you need, much better than a Tangle Teezer or a Wet Brush and it'll last you forever.

HabbyHadno · 30/12/2018 20:15

Not Elemis, Aveda. Seriously, get one.

Dowser · 30/12/2018 20:16

Another thumbs up for the tangle teaser

theoriginalpineappletart · 30/12/2018 20:16

Wetbrush is the best. Condition of my hair has massively improved since I started using it.

Tangle Teezer with Childs Farm detangler
