Where to eat in Leeds

DH and I are out for a night in the city centre. Can you recommend where is a good place to eat whilst we don't have children in tow?

Fazendas is good if you like meat.

Demelzasdilemma · 30/12/2018 15:43

Estabulo is better and cheaper than fazenda imo. Zaap Thai is great but you can't pre book - queues go down very quickly though

EmiliaFart · 30/12/2018 15:45

Ox Club.

The Swine that Dines.

Matt Healy X The Foundry.

The Reliance.

Zaap has gone massively downhill in the last year in my opinion. I would avoid.

millimat · 30/12/2018 15:45

Is there anywhere with a tasting menu - the sort where you get lots of very small plates to try?

Iberica

Crimebustersofthesea · 30/12/2018 15:47

Stockdales is good. Or kendalls bistro.

millimat · 30/12/2018 15:47

Aj I just found the swine that dines on a Google search for that sort of thing.

millimat · 30/12/2018 15:49

millimat if small plates is what you're after then definitely check out The Swine that Dines.

It's £49 per head, 8 courses of amazingly creative food and you can bring your own Wine. Me and DP have been half a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed.

BobbilyBoo · 30/12/2018 15:50

If you want fine dining I would recommend Home, it can be expensive if you get the wine pairings but I have loved it every time I have been.

millimat · 30/12/2018 16:10

Sadswine that dines is not open on the day we're there.

Ah that's a shame :(

Home is really lovely. Have never been to Vice and Virtue but the menu reads well.

Ox Club is fantastic. Their chicken dripping the they serve with their bread is the single nicest thing I put in my mouth this year 😆

millimat · 30/12/2018 16:17

Is this the whole a la Carter menu for the ox club?Hmm

This could be trickier than I thought. Can't book home either.

Shears Yard or Vice & Virtue? Crafthouse in Trinity might be more reliably open & they do higher end style food (can't recall if they still do tasting menus though)

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/12/2018 16:24

You should be able to book Home online. Are you looking for somewhere tonight or in the future? Home only releases menus and reservations a month or so in advance.

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/12/2018 16:24

I live in Leeds, but it sounds like you're looking for something a lot more high end than what I'm used to.

The Man Behind the Curtain or 42 The Calls are a couple of nice places that haven't been mentioned.

Until I saw your requirements I was going to suggest Bundobust. Amazing Indian street food in small plates and a good craft ale selection, but a casual place to eat, not high end.

Starfish28 · 30/12/2018 16:28

I was just about to say Bundobust as well. It’s amazing but very much a casual venue (you have to turn up and wait no looking for tables under 6). We are visiting family in Yorkshire and went for a night out and loved every dish.

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/12/2018 16:33

If you look on the Trip Advisor page for the Matt Healy restaurant, there is a photo of the menu that gives an idea of the prices.

Bandobust

MrsGrindah · 30/12/2018 16:36

#Babara# Think you mean Brasserie 44 which closed in the summer. My current favourite is The Tiffin Room

MamaMushroom · 30/12/2018 16:41

Iberica is lovely.

Fabulouslyfatatfifty · 30/12/2018 17:47

Home has closed Bobbily, fairly recently.

ilovesooty · 30/12/2018 17:50

The Tiffin Room is great.
