I am !

I have bought a shiny new notebook.
I have been searching pintrest for bullet journal ideas.
This includes couch to 5k (for the 3rd time)

I really need to sort my health and fatness (not a typo) out .

So if you need a partner in crime to give you a nudge or a kick then please come and join me.

More importantly if you are one of the few miracles out there that day feeling like this last year and actually succeeded please come and tell me your tales.

All welcome.

busy filling my Amazon Basket before No Amazon January starts

I'm going to try and fail to do no Amazon year.

EMS23 · 30/12/2018 18:39

I'm actually looking at my local gym website, getting ready to join on Jan 7th, while eating a whole tub of Quality Street and drinking prosecco!!

StoorieHoose · 30/12/2018 20:44

@brizzledrizzle it will be a miracle if I manage No Amazon January!

hellololabells2019 · 30/12/2018 21:07

Erm I have just done all of these without looking at his thread- fate?!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/12/2018 21:22

I did it last year. I decided to run 10 minutes a day, every day. I've now run 1598km this year (shit at maths!) and was just discussing with Dh how I'm going to do 2km tomorrow to make a nice round number as I worked it out wrong today!! I've lost 3st in 2018, and I'm really bloody proud of myself.

But I sat there this time last year drinking, eating crap, smoking , feeling rubbish. There's still time OP. Lay out your trainers and running kit on Monday night and start 2019 as you mean to go on!

That is exactly what I want to hear bear
How did you manage to stay motivated ? I am normally great for a couple of weeks and then I get bored.

I am hoping that booking myself on an official 5k for March Wil do the trick.

So far I have sat in the same spot on the sofa for the past 2 weeks binge watching RuPaul, eating junk food and refusing to outside because it's cold.

In that time I have come up with all of the things I will magically start doing on January the first. Here they are:

Stop smoking and only drink on occasions
Drink more water
Visit family more often
Bake with the DC once a week
Stop eating take aways
Loose 4 stone
Stop spending money on crap
Get a whole new wardrobe
Start exercising
Start committing to a beauty routine
Take better pride in my appearance (hair, nails, tan, make up etc)
Stick to a household chore routine
Sort my mental health out
Focus on doing the house up
Have more family time

In my head I will wake up at 6am next year and magically become a healthy, perfect goddess. I'm going to have a shock arent I Blush

Booksandpens · 30/12/2018 21:35

This is me..
Need to lose 4 stones. I thought I put on weight this year, but basically "just" yoyoed so back to the same weight almost exactly as last year.

I really want to change, as I have no energy. I would nap every day if I could, and that's just wrong, especially as I have enough sleep at night.

toriatoriatoria · 30/12/2018 21:59

Yep! I've just been sitting on the sofa eating ice-cream and thinking about getting fit in the new year!

ThunderStorms · 31/12/2018 16:27

I got to my target weight two years ago, but didn’t feel any different. Put it all back on due to work stress and emotional eating and really felt fat. I felt the weight once on again , but not when off. I need to remember this time how much difference it did actually make.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/12/2018 17:25

Howlong I don't know really, I just got the bit between my teeth. I did quite a strict diet for three months so I lost 2 stone quite quickly, and that helped. The last stone has been much slower. Seeing my body change (take measures, photos etc) is really motivating. Seeing a skinny woman with a lovely figure in a shop window and realising it was me- amazing !!

I was a yo-yo dieter, always on the next new plan, always falling off diets and I just decided that I was going to give it 100%. It's meant giving up lots of treats, and exercising every day (even in the cold, rain, wind, 29* sun, or if I'm feeling tired)- it's not been easy. But it is possible.

ManicLoki · 31/12/2018 17:26

I'm sat in the bath drinking vodka & irn bru and eating some jelly sweets #alwaysclassy

I've had a throat infection and cough for almost a month which is finally fucking the fuck off. Time to stop using it as an excuse.

I'll be starting c25k and drinking more water as of tomorrow. They can be this week's changes. Next week on to eating more fresh fruit and veg. I need think of some more for the next few weeks, maybe less sugar, less alcohol, walk 10k steps a day... will be keeping an eye on here for ideas

User5trillion · 01/01/2019 11:08

Morning all, are we all kale and quinoa now?Grin

I start this tomorrow as its beer and burger day today followed by a family walk.

Tomorrow it starts in earnest. This evening will make some healthy soups and meal plan for the week. No booze or puddings and lots of evening walks. Bring it on Grin

lostmywayrightnow · 01/01/2019 11:15

I am starting properly on 7th as too much choc, school hols and other stuff here atm. We actually don't have lots of Christmas food (choc aside) and I will be making a nice veg soup today. Did run yesterday and will go out again.

BoscosBosca · 01/01/2019 11:16

Deciding to run for 10mins a day is genius and doable for me. Thanks for the idea. It is still firmly Christmas here as the last of the family are coming to visit for a few days tomorrow. More cheese, deli meats, chocolates and prosecco to consume before life goes back to routine after the weekend!

2019IsGonnaBeMyYear · 01/01/2019 11:51

Hey I AM starting today, various notebooks and pens poised and weighed in this morning.

Only a 4lb gain for the whole of December which I am pleased with. Have 4 stone to lose though so feel a bit daunted. Decided to take it 7lb at a time.

Hubby will be cooking beef joint for dinner tonight which is fine, I will just skip anything carby. And no alcohol here now for the whole month as the hangover I have this morning from the few drinks I had last night confirms for me now alcohol just isn't worth it

Here's to 2019, happy new year you all!!

MawkishTwaddle · 01/01/2019 12:31

I started my Davina 7 minute fit dvd yesterday. Even I can find 7 minutes a day.

HeyLala · 01/01/2019 12:51

I've started today.
Went running / walking this morning to the local park. Helped out the Parkrun by marshalling- not ready to run it yet.
Then ran /walked back.
No alcohol until Feb and trying to eat healthier.

I put my running leggings on this morning and I'm going to stay in them all day. No more pj bottoms or sweatpants when in the house. I think this might help!!??

UnnecessaryFennel · 01/01/2019 14:23

I'm starting tomorrow as we've just opened up a bottle of champagne to have with NYD lunch. However, dp has promised to take all the leftover (unopened) chocolate to the supermarket foodbank tomorrow, and I'm back to work so no boozing! I have planned to get an earlier train every morning which will have the double bonus of more chance of a seat and will get off earlier so I have a 25-min walk along the river to the office. I want to get a minimum of 6000 steps in per day.

Then its: lots of water / cut the carbs and sugar / damp January. I've signed myself up for some yoga classes and dp and I will be doing a min. 5-mile walk every weekend.

Once I've got myself into some good habits and sorted my pelvic floor I'm going to up the exercise with some weights and maybe couch to 5k. I have 20 months to lose 2.5 stone and get fit which really should be eminently doable...

ManicLoki · 01/01/2019 15:34

I'm starting the water today and the exercise tomorrow. I'm taking the dc's to a local country park for some fresh air, I can do w1r1 of c25k whilst we're there :)

PatPhoenix · 01/01/2019 15:47

OK, doing OK today despite own weight in prosecco last night, but the local nye party was a model, providing 2 glorious vegan curries, with rice /naan both easy to swerve. So at least I haven't got any MORE shit to lose than I had when I last posted...

Today got up very hungover which made it easy to skip breakfast (top tip!) and went for a New Year's Day swim in the river with some friends. Not really huge amounts of exercise but it was glorious - much nicer than I expected. Made a proper lunch for ds and me, just had chicken and really nice veg plus stewed apple. Used my Christmas present milk frother to make my coffee more of a treat. Also ate a bagel. But we won't talk about that. Bagels are evil.

I do have an incentive - I have an insanely hot date coming up in mid January, at least it seems hot at the moment as obvs it's online and we haven't actually met. But for the first time in my life I see the point of exchanging, erm, Photos with a nice gentleman. So at least I have some exercise planned. And the goal would be to lose 3 kilos by then, which will get me lighter than I have been for 15 years.

User5trillion · 01/01/2019 16:11

Well done, lots of good starts happening. Had my burger and teeny tiny wall but it felt good to be in the fresh air and sunshine.

Will be starting lots of water tonight. Made some soup for work lunches and just about to meal plan for the next couple of weeks.

I like the idea of 10 mins running a day, that's doable. Have dug out my dusty copy of 30 day shred but will wait until tomorrow to start that.

ChristmasFan2018 · 01/01/2019 16:26

I've found my tribe. I've been overweight too long but in December I've had far too much unhealthy food, wine & gin. All my clothes feel tighter than usual & any new clothes I've had to buy are a size bigger.

I'm definitely unfit but noticing myself even more out if breath chasing the DC around & playing games.

House still has too much Christmas food in it, I've popped some in a bag for the food bank where items are unopened. So by this weekend planning to have no nice treats in the house!

Eating more healthily requires planning, I'm terrible for popping out for lunch & buying unhealthy or expensive options. So if I meal plan & take lunch with me I'll hopefully save calories & money

PoesyCherish · 01/01/2019 17:03

I do need to lose a stone and work on my fitness. My fitness has got so poor that it's massively affecting my joint condition so I'm constantly in pain. I'm technically in the healthy range (just!) But at the top end of it I feel really uncomfortable, my clothes are tight and I have rolls of fat. I've tried losing weight two years in a row. Last year I started the year 9 lbs lighter than Jan 2017. This year I'm starting the year just 1.5 lbs down from last year Sad

However, we have so many yummy chocolates left, one box of thorntons are particularly tempting at the moment.

VanillaSugarCookies · 01/01/2019 18:31

How are you running 10 minutes a day? That is a lot! I can barely run up stairs. Well done on the good starts though. And you lot better actually stay here and get fit. I'm having visions of 4 lonely posters in the February thread....

Managed to eat just 679/1200 calories today. I'm tempted to use up my remaining calories on mini eggs and quavers.

Also had a walk to the shop and took a de tour back home round the duck pond (I'm in the middle of nowhere so this took 40 minutes).

My water intake has been crap but my bottle is being delivered soon so that will change in due time.

I almost died exercised as well this morning. I am extremely unfit.Smile
