What are you spending your Christmas money on?

Currently racking my brains for things I could do with. I was lucky enough to get £50 from my dad for Christmas and £100 from my in-laws (they're fab!)

Already got a new coat and the pair of boots I was after for Christmas. Any suggestions?

I was thinking either a leather jacket or stocking up on new jeans/tops etc.

What will you be treating yourself to?

If I was ever lucky enough to be given any money at Christmas I wouldn't spend it on clothes, which will inevitably go out of fashion. I'd buy some jewellery which can be worn and cherished for years to come.

BentNeckLady · 27/12/2018 19:30

We were given around £400. We’ll be spending it on 2 new rugs, some new crockery and a set of inductions saucepans.

Living the absolute dream in my house 🤣

Teseri · 27/12/2018 19:31

I'm buying some new wellies with some money that I've been saving up and some money I got off a friend for Christmas, currently eyeing up some Le Chameau that are on sale.

DH went to the Boxing Day sales with his and got us a new TV. We've needed a new one for 6months or so since our delightful children broke ours so I was very pleased. With what was left I've split it between children's savings and our holiday fund.

Starlight90 · 27/12/2018 19:39

Im saving mine and gonna buy a new TV for the living room. Im 1/3 there so might take until summer.

SoyDora · 27/12/2018 19:39

Haven’t really thought about it, I’ve got £140 Christmas money in my purse and forgot it was there! I am 9 months pregnant so there isn’t anything I want/fancy at the moment... clothes are a no go and I got make up/jewellery for Christmas.
It’ll probably sit in my purse until it gets wittled away on things like paying the window cleaner.

CakeNinja · 27/12/2018 19:42

I left some of mine for the cleaner and the window cleaner (we went away today) and the rest of it is going in the cash box we have at home so are never caught short without cash.
I do wish people wouldn’t give us money for Christmas (in most grateful way possible), I’d prefer something that had been chosen for me otherwise it just gets absorbed into general family spending.
Although it’s just saved me from taking money out of the cash box!!

IamTheMeg · 27/12/2018 19:45

I always like to do a shop at m and s and get us all in some lovely treats for new year with mine Grin

SoyDora · 27/12/2018 19:48

That’s what happens with mine CakeNinja. I never ring fence it for anything special. I should probably start.

tierraJ · 27/12/2018 19:50

Got a £30 boots voucher from my dad plus £40 cash.

From boots will get Clinique Party Pop lipstick; plus my Nexxus shampoo & conditioner.

After that I'll have £30 left, may get clothing.

IrisApfelRocks · 27/12/2018 19:58

Mil gave us £250 so will add to it and buy the nespresso creatista machine as the one we have is on its last legs.

TchoupiEtDoudou · 27/12/2018 20:01

A nice photo frame
A lovely little notebook for my handbag

PeonyTruffle · 27/12/2018 20:02

DH and I pooled ours and had enough for a holiday next year with DS (My IL's are insanely generous, we're super lucky)

Gibble1 · 27/12/2018 20:05

My uncle gave DH and I £100 each. He is very generous and usually gives us a large amount of cash and we have always used it to buy something which will benefit the whole family by making our house nicer. One year we spent it on our fireplace which we adore. This year I am replacing our worn out and dangerous stair carpet with it (I may have to add to it) as the carpet isn’t actually attached to the stairs and I worry myself sick that someone is going to seriously injure themselves falling down the stairs.

parrotonmyshoulder · 27/12/2018 20:10

My DM specified purpose for ours. Surfing lessons and a night in a hotel! Some more from DGM will be spent on a lamp.

Brightwell12 · 27/12/2018 20:12

I'm thinking about having a mac make up session,

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/12/2018 21:04

I bought a gorgeous new notebook from paperchase, and a string of lights with pegs on to make a photo chain display in our playroom. I also bought a slouchy salmon pink jumper from Fatface. I took back three things to Debenhams and couldn't face the crowds to exchange them so I ended up coming home with more money than I went with...

champagneplanet · 27/12/2018 21:07

DM gave DH and I cash and were instructed to book ourselves somewhere nice and go and enjoy ourselves for the night, while she babysits the DCs overnight. We didn't argue! Smile

EKGEMS · 27/12/2018 21:21
