House upside down drives me crazy

Does anyone else have a house upside down still. Just come down this morning to toys everywhere and bits everywhere.
I hate that cluttered feeling of stuff everywhere but know if I tidy up it will be back to the same in ten minutes .
Can't wait to get back to normal!!!

Me, I'm actually considering taking down the Christmas things and moving the presents to the kids rooms now. Usually I let them keep all their new stuff down til new year but it's stressing me out so much this year ha ha x

MishMashMosher · 27/12/2018 09:49

Is that you DH?Grin It's only for a few days. Just embrace the mess Grin

ChristmasAccountant · 27/12/2018 09:52

Me! Tree coming down tomorrow and back to normality. I hate these few days for this very reason.
And yes I am a bit of a tidy freak. Everything in its place and all that.

shecamefromgreece · 27/12/2018 10:46

Yes it's driving me mad and as you say within ten minutes f cleaning it's back to a mess again!!
I'm going to do a big sort out clean tomorrow I'm going to my mums for Italian xmas today so won't have to look at it!!

Rayn · 27/12/2018 11:00

Done! All the boxes in the car ready for the tip. Toys away and all the tat ready for the charity shop. Just need to persuade DH to take down the tree now. Love Christmas but once it's over it's over. Xx

This is me!! I'm sick to bloody death of my house being a cluttered pig sty. I hate clutter and can't relax when it's like that (blame growing up with a hoarder of a mother!). DH is working today but off tomorrow. He is being ordered out with the children while I bin all the tat and clutter!!

Fatted · 27/12/2018 11:04

BTW before anyone bangs on about DH should do the house, he does, but he's not as ruthless with clutter and tat as I am! It needs a clean to my spartan standards.

Bishalisha · 27/12/2018 11:17

I’ve taken my tree down already Blush

IfNotNowBernard · 27/12/2018 11:45

Um..Xmas isn't over! It's not even NYE yet! I still got folk to meet up with and presents to exchange. I LOVE my tree. It's only been up since December 20 and I get my big present on the 6th Jan!
Plus I still got unopened pate and xmas pud..so no I'm going to revel in the mess and stuff my face for a bit longer.

YesitsJacqueline · 27/12/2018 11:49

Came back from my mum's last night and put all ds new toys away !. He's with his dad today I've tidied the whole house just left the hot wheels tracks up in the living room as we all worked so hard putting them together!
I've put some older toys in the shed to make room for the new stuff ( i will rotate in a few months ). Very tempted to put the tree away but can't face going up in the loft today .
I feel much better with everything tidy.

DeepanKrispanEven · 27/12/2018 11:53

My mother used to be desperate to clear away what she called clutter. It made Christmas utterly miserable for the rest of the family, Please think about that.

Pinkyponkcustard · 27/12/2018 12:09

I’ve took all the cards down and packed away some of the decorations other than the trees. We are going away for new year and don’t want to come home to everything still up.

Unpacked all the toys and pressies, dh off To tip with all the packaging. House feels much better.

Ontopofthesunset · 27/12/2018 12:17

All these people who hate clutter. Why do you bother putting trees up in the first place?

Miljah · 27/12/2018 12:24

I was wondering the same? Do your family pick up on your thinly stretched anxiety as you itch to 'tidy it all away'?

Why not just not bother next year! If having a beautiful shiny, twinkly object in the corner of your room for maybe even a week is Just Too Much!

DragginBallsEEEE · 27/12/2018 12:44

I've got a huge dolls house plonked in the middle of my living room so I am sorely tempted to take the tree down as that's the space needed for the house (our house is small so no room upstairs for it). I love my Xmas tree though so I really don't want to get rid of it yet :(

The mess is insane though. DD has about 12 baby dolls now that I need to find storage space for.

Ledkr · 27/12/2018 12:45

I'm a tidy freak too but I love this time of year as I relax about it and just live with the clutter as the kids like to have their stuff out to look through and play with while I finish off the Christmas booze and chill.
I have got rid of all the rubbish now tho and kitchen and bathrooms are clean so. I'm not too bothered

DragginBallsEEEE · 27/12/2018 12:45

Some people have small houses and too many toys laying around. We aren't fun suckers, just needing to make room in the home for everyone who lives here, not just the 4 year olds toys.

everybodysang · 27/12/2018 12:46

My mum used to clear EVERYTHING away about three seconds after Xmas day. Hoovering round us, muttering about clutter and mess in 'her' house. Nobody could relax or have fun. It was shit.

She's having an operation today, 500 miles away from where I live. I feel sad for her but I am staying here with my house full of toys and love.

daisypond · 27/12/2018 12:46

No, I don't understand this at all. Christmas comes with a bit more clutter - tree, decorations, cards, presents, fairy lights, etc. I like it. It's a bit grim and depressing when it all comes down on 6th January. It's only for a short time. Our tree goes up the week before Christmas.

everybodysang · 27/12/2018 12:47

I am not suggesting that anyone who wants it tidy is not a loving parent, by the way (just read that back and it sounds very harsh!!!) just - be careful about what you say out loud.

Shinypebbler · 27/12/2018 12:47

I'd take my down now but I won't, because it's not all about me. It'll stay up for at least 4 or 5 days after Christmas because the children love it so much

Pascha · 27/12/2018 12:48

Mines all down, decorations away, most toys away upstairs and the living room is a bastion of cleanliness. It's wonderful (and won't last long I'm sure)

lanbro · 27/12/2018 12:51

Toys are all out of the living room now, I'm suffering with shoulder injury so dds 6 and 5 vacuumed and helped change beds (midnight nosebleed!) And put away toys and clothes. At their dad's tonight so get 24hrs of a tidy house! It's not perfect but not upside down and perfectly reasonable for toys to be in bedrooms now

ChanklyBore · 27/12/2018 12:54

What’s untidy about a Christmas tree?

It’s Christmas. It lasts Twelve days. But at very least until new year.

SauvignonBlanche · 27/12/2018 12:55

Just need to persuade DH to take down the tree now. Love Christmas but once it's over it's over.

They are 12 days of Christmas and this is only the third. Xmas Hmm
