Im up at 530 thought id cheer myself up and wear a new sparkly Mac lipstick and put my reindeer ears on. Im taking in a fruit salad, someone else is making noodles, another a bryani and another a thai curry, he beauty if nusing in London is that every celebration is like a food trip around the continents and everyone is fiercly competitive except me who runs into M and S last minute.

Heres to you all. I’m having a large Rioja then im going to get my cat in and go to bed. Hope everyones work day is as peaceful as it can be x

Me. I don't feel too bad about it as I'll be on a night shift starting at 6.30pm so at least I'll be able to join in with presents and Christmas lunch.
Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

ThisMustBeMyDream · 24/12/2018 22:45

Me. Midwife on the late shift.
I cry every time I have to leave my children at christmas, more so now I am a single parent. It seems harder now than ever. They are 16, 6 and 3.

LoniceraJaponica · 24/12/2018 22:46

I am very grateful to people who work in the NHS and emergency services, so thank you for working on Christmas Day Flowers

Jozen · 24/12/2018 22:47

Yes, 7am till 1pm at an opioid treatment clinic. I got the glitzy earrings and a posh dress to wear. Totally OTT for work wear but hey...
Hope your Christmas Day at work is calm and stress free whatever your jobs may be.

missesbiggens · 24/12/2018 22:48

I agree Lonicera. Most people couldn't do it, we all owe you a lot.

Merry Christmas!

LoubyLou1234 · 24/12/2018 22:51

Me, late shift NHS. Had a lovely family day today. Will also do family stuff Boxing Day so don't feel like I'm missing out. It's not every year luckily.

maryboleyn · 24/12/2018 22:55

Me. I'm on an early shift so hopefully will be home in time for lunch. My rota has changed that many times over the past week, the only reason I dont mind is because for many people I'm probably the only person they will see for the duration of the day.

Jaffacakebeast · 24/12/2018 23:14

Grateful to every single 1 of you, I hope you all have stress free days with loads of free food and goodies to make it more bearable

EachandEveryone · 25/12/2018 06:48

Hope every one working today has as stress-free and jolly day as possible, and those not working have a fab time too.

I'm on the long shift today, but looking forward to it. On my visits yesterday, so many patients were down about being alone on Christmas, I left each of them wanting to cry and take them home! So I can hopefully cheer them up on my visits today.

Our Matron won't let us wear Christmas cardies over uniform for infection control (which I understand), so have got some small Chrimbo teddies for my patients with dementia to hopefully bring some smiles instead, knowing how many of them love the colours and textures. And I've managed to find a Christmas fob watch which I'll be showing off as my festive contribution to uniform!

JustanotherCHRISTMASuser01 · 25/12/2018 07:44

@bychoiceornot bless you, you will make their whole Christmas.
And thanks to nhs staff you are all angels

Violetroselily · 25/12/2018 08:12

Merry Christmas to everyone working today

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 25/12/2018 08:16

Me, I’m on a late shift.

I don’t really mind, I’m just relieved we are finally here and it won’t be so difficult to cover shifts from tomorrow onwards 😫

As long as everyone turns up, we will have a nice shift.

Happy Christmas🥂

SheldonandPenny · 25/12/2018 08:19

I appreciate you all!

JazzTheDog · 25/12/2018 08:22

I was nightshift (in a mental health hospital). We had a lovely night, buffet supper and played Santa at 5am leaving shower gel, nail clippers and a Frys Cream for our patients!

dogzdinner · 25/12/2018 08:40

Merry Christmas to all of you working today 🎅

You are all wonderful!

Weenurse · 25/12/2018 08:46

Merry Christmas, day off this year for me. I like to do the night duty Christmas Eve, you get to wish all the patients merry Christmas and wear Christmas earrings. Then you go home, do presents then go to sleep and miss all the preparations. Get up and have lunch, then back to bed and miss the clean up.
Only time my brothers get to help!

jobbymcginty · 25/12/2018 08:50

Thank you to everyone who is working x

FritataPatate · 25/12/2018 09:06

My DS is. Working an 8 day shift in A and E in a London hosp (so working NYE too). Desperately understaffed. Sad They're all dressing as super heroes (which they are!)
Bloody appreciate the NHS.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 25/12/2018 09:56

I'm in work later at 4pm - midnight. We're all wearing xmas jumpers though and our big boss is doing a shift as well. She says we can have christmas music on and we're all bringing cakes and treats. It won't be too bad as I'm getting most of the day with my DC and family.

EachandEveryone · 25/12/2018 14:04

It’s actually going really quickly. I’m surprised most of the wards are doing short shifts I think I’d rather get it over with. The food has been excellent

Was supposed to be on nights tonight but am off sick as I had a stomach upset overnight yesterday. Feel fine now but can't go because of the 48 hour rule. I'm actually quite sad as there will be a lovely atmosphere

earlybirdhasanap · 25/12/2018 14:25

I'm on the night shift tonight. My family have just left for MILs so I'm trying to get some sleep.
I'm feeling fed up as I've been ill and I'm not 100% and I worked last Christmas as well. I'm sure it'll be ok when I get there.

Harat · 25/12/2018 14:45

On night shift starting at midnight tonight so just got up, nothing actually useful like nursing though, just work for an online shop. Hoping to have Christmas Dinner about 8/9ish, poor Dh as he's not on night shift so he's having to wait a while Grin
