I mean think we’re equal, great, don’t objectify usnor take advantage of us. Just thoroughly like us as a sex.

For me, I get good vibes from Jason Momoa, George Clooney, Andrew Lincoln and the guy who plays Black Panther.

Neil Gaiman seems a decent enough bloke.

MrsTerryPratcett · 23/12/2018 15:43

Neil Gaiman does seem good. And writes excellent women. And was good friends with Terry Pritchett who I am convinced was a good bloke, so that's a god sign.

MrsTerryPratcett · 23/12/2018 15:43

God sign is such an appropriate typo!

Really hoping neither Sebastian Stan nor Richard Madden are sexist bastards, they're my current crushes.

userschmoozer · 23/12/2018 16:00

Ben Elton.
Graham Linehan.
Robert Webb.
Chris Morris.
and yes Frankie Boyle.
And dont ask my why but Brian Cox.

I don't think either of the Ed Sheeran or Justin Biebers songs put the men in bad light at all. Eds is about a woman that cheated on him with someone who was staying in their hotel. Listen to the lyrics, the woman was the one in the wrong, if a man acted like this, you would say he was disgusting. The song implies that their relationship was becoming serious. She came to him apologising because she knew she was wrong.
Justin Biebers song 'love yourself' is about a woman who used a man, put him down, was horrible about his friends and was self obsessed. I think Ed is a genuinely nice guy, not sure about Bieber in the past but he seems to be a good guy now.

Jaxtellerswife · 23/12/2018 17:15

@AloneInMyHead thank goodness, some common sense lol.
I thought this was about men that seem to have an above and beyond respect for women and it's turned into 'ooh his partners a bit younger. He's no friend to women at all🙄'

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 17:30

But a man judging a woman's worth on her looks bothers me a lot.

I don't really know what you mean by this. A man being attracted to a woman doesn't mean that he doesn't value women that he sees as less attractive. It's 'normal' for people to find some people attractive and some not. The 'Harvey Weinsteins' of the world are obviously vile but it seems almost every man is being scrutinised on here and placed on some shit list because of a small comment, dating history or some song lyrics.

MrsTerryPratcett · 23/12/2018 17:38

I don't agree. I think it's a man's anger that someone he was having a no strings relationship with had sex with someone else. And he also wrote that JB song. And his awful song about a woman's body. I think he's one of those fake feminists hiding in plain sight.

I think we are very accepting of sexism. I wonder if a few racist remarks, or a couple of homophobic song lyrics would be similarly dismissed as inconsequential. Is it wrong for us to want some men to be above reproach?

Yes, that's what I said in my post. I said it doesn't bother me if a man says he finds a woman attractive or whatever.

When I referred to judging someone's worth by their appearance I meant the type of man who thinks that someone young and attractive can't possibly be intelligent as well. Or conversely that someone older and less attractive should keep her opinions to herself because no one is interested in what an old crone has to say.

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 17:47

I really do think you are wrong. Watch some interviews with him. He seems very down to earth and and everyone, men and women, say how lovely he is. He's a close friend of Taylor Swift who definitely doesn't put up with any sexism or inequality.

Anyway, I don't want to argue about people I don't know. I can only go on what I see. I don't think we can truly know anyone unless we live with them. Many people would say my uncle is a great bloke. Truth is he's an abusive, sexist, racist dick.

I agree, I really don't know anyone with views like you mention though.

RedDeadRoach · 23/12/2018 17:51

Benedict cumberbatch refuses a role if his female co-stars will be paid less than him and his production company is apparently entirely staffed by women.

BoswelliaGoldMyrrh · 23/12/2018 17:52

Obama. Apparently he went to a stag do in my home town. As soon as the stripper arrived, he was out the side door.

John Robins, presenter and comedian.

PsychedelicSheep · 23/12/2018 18:40

Ed Sheeran wrote Don't about Ellie Goulding. FYI!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/12/2018 19:25

John Robins hates pretty much everyone, if his stand-up is anything to go by, but he never seems to dislike women just for being female so I guess he counts for this list.

norrismcwhirtersfridgemagnet · 23/12/2018 19:36

Whoever said Rob Brydon, sorry but he's a massive sexist twat. Bill Bryson on the other hand, must be on the list.

AloneInMyHead · 23/12/2018 19:48

PsychedelicSheep

Apparently so but he has never confirmed it!

Someone mentioned the Beastie Boys up thread. Adam Yauch would meet the criteria. He seemed a genuine and amazing man. Very pro women. RIP
