Present for 8 year old NOT into girly things

Bosses Dd age 8 isn't into anything girly I.e no idea what a LOL doll is and doesn't play with girly things.

She's a lovely little thing that loves Lego, dinosaurs, science etc and dressing up as Batman/superman etc

I want to get her a gift for Xmas but totally stuck as I only have girly girls to buy for plus I also don't know what she would have in respect of toys etc, any ideas that is easy to pick up as ordering isn't a option now

Do you have The Works near you? They do a good range of cheap science kits. They also sell them in the Entertainer.

GrainOfSalt · 21/12/2018 18:54

Can't go wrong with more Lego Grin

AlwaysDancing1234 · 21/12/2018 18:54

I have a cousin of a similar age. Have bought her things like a marble run, nerf gun and board games such as junior monopoly in recent years for Xmas and birthdays

Slime kits

slime

Nothing wrong with Lego

Enidblyton1 · 21/12/2018 18:55

Is there a toy shop near you? Go in there and ask for advice. Our local one has loads of national geographic science based kits (slime making, intruder alarm, mini microscope etc). Or smart games are brilliant if the shop sells those.

bookmum08 · 21/12/2018 18:55

Rubix cube type things are popular with my not really girly girl. There are loads in The Works.

DelurkingAJ · 21/12/2018 18:56

At that age I was desperate for Technic Lego and nobody (other than my DParents) would believe a girl wanted it!

My 8 year old likes word games like Articulate and Think Words.

Telescope?
Books, books, more books.

Lockable diary?

JennyHolzersGhost · 21/12/2018 19:01

Could you get her a map which you can then use to plan a walk together ? A lot of kids really love discovering how to use maps. You could buy her the OS map of your local area, and then use it to find all the walking paths.

datingloon · 21/12/2018 19:02

Technic Lego haven't heard of that so will look it up, was thinking Lego but again now idea what she has etc I know Lego friends wouldn't be a option.

Maybe a slime kit I know she likes slime

There is a nice Lego creator 3 in 1 set that makes a dinosaur or 2 other things.

Also nature/outdoors stuff or stationery.

Books like Goodnight stories for Rebel Girls.

Polly99 · 21/12/2018 19:11

My DDs favourite toy at that age was an electronics kit and she agrees Lego is always good.
I got my superhero-fan niece a superhero cape from a couple of years ago and that went down well.

Katef44 · 21/12/2018 19:14

Ever heard of Lego Brickheadz my 2 year old loves them! Good luck

yummyeclair · 21/12/2018 19:16

Lots of great Lego books of what to make ideas which the kids in our family live.

Dirtygirtyisthirty · 21/12/2018 19:17

If she was an 8 year old boy would you know what to get? If so, get her that

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 21/12/2018 19:21

One of the wierd science kits? There's a few different ones

Meccano

ScrambledSmegs · 21/12/2018 19:21

When I was 8-ish I got a Lego Spaceship with lights and sounds for Christmas.

That bit in the Lego Movie where Benny just screams 'SPACESHIP' over and over? That was me Xmas Grin

Definitely get her Lego.
