MrsPerfect12 · 20/12/2018 22:39

I chance! You’d be 6K plus

MrsPerfect12 · 20/12/2018 22:39

*no chance

Tigger001 · 20/12/2018 22:44

Dubai at half term for four of you including flights and hotel for 2k sorry but I fear you have no chance.

Enter it into a holiday booking site and it will give you an estimate as it could vary massively dependant on the option you require for flight and hotel standards

LardLizard · 20/12/2018 22:51

Everyone said that last time but I found one for just over 2k
I’ll have to see if I can find the thread

Unlikely for budget.
And given all the lovely places on the planet, why Dubai??

LardLizard · 20/12/2018 23:08

Because it’s a shortish flight
Good food, nice warm sea that time of year and if we enjoy theme parks n water parks n the beach it’s good for us good hotel and service standards

BusterGonad · 20/12/2018 23:16

I'd pay 2k not to go there! 🤣

birdladyfromhomealone · 20/12/2018 23:24

We went in Sept for a long weekend Fri to Mon 5 of us at The Atlantis The palm.
We also went to the Burg Kalifa.
Only ate/drank in the hotel.
it cost 6k

birdladyfromhomealone · 20/12/2018 23:25

short flight????
its EIGHT hours

noenergy · 20/12/2018 23:28

I would say £1500-£2000 for flights and hotel really depends on what you want could be anything from £1000-£6000.

If you want a beach hotel then it is normally £250 upwards per night, more like £500 for waterpark hotels like Jumeirah beach and Atlantis.

I would buy flights and hotel separate. Look on sunshine.co.uk for hotels, they are normally cheapest.

LardLizard · 21/12/2018 00:00

Oh I think the flight is more like 7 hours
Couldn’t go for a long weekend though no way

Anyway you haven’t said about your next years holiday costs

Mine will cost about £600 for the cottage + petrol (potentially 500miles ish in total?) plus a few meals out and icecreams so maybe something just under £1000 ?

How can you say an 8 (or 7) hour flight, is 'short' ?

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 21/12/2018 00:45

2K for a family of 4 to Dubai? very unlikely. It will be minimum 2K each.

Dubai isn’t well liked on mumsnet however it is good for families with children as lots of theme parks. We stayed in the Atlantis this year which is very family friendly and we paid just over 11K for the holiday for the 5 of us not including spending money. So I really can’t see you finding a holiday all in for 2K

MimiSunshine · 21/12/2018 06:44

Wouldn’t it be easier to go on Expedia and just price it up?

somewhereovertherain · 21/12/2018 06:50

Our last holiday was 2.4k for 10 nights in Barbados for 4. Our next one is £500 for 2 to Portugal in January.

Next summer likely to be a £2k trip to France or Croatia not sure waiting till after March to decide.

maddiemookins16mum · 21/12/2018 07:04

Dubai for 2k, no way. You’d be better in a nice hotel in Cyprus (although again not for 2K) especially one of the ones with waterparks. Plus you’ll be able to have a glass of wine on the plane and not get arrested.
Dubai is bottom of my list.

feesh · 21/12/2018 07:06

It’s not 8 hours to Dubai. The airlines usually timetable it at 6.5-7 hours, but in reality it’s only about 6 hours. That’s pretty short.

Dubai is crazy expensive though, OP. You could probably budget £2k a week just on food 😆

Surfskatefamily · 21/12/2018 07:08

I think youd end up spending a lot more than initial costs in dubai.
My main holiday for 3 is 850 for flights and all inclusive hotel in algarve.
Thats really pushing my budget though, had a few hard years and determined to have a good holiday

rookiemere · 21/12/2018 07:13

We're off to NZ at Easter, at the minute without activities or spends its coming out around £5k.

Can't even do Tenerife in a decent hotel at half term for 3 for less than £2k so you'd be lucky to get to Dubai.

Hiphopopotamous · 21/12/2018 07:16

With that criteria for your holiday and budget how about turkey?
We are going for 2 weeks all inclusive to a 5* resort with a water park for 2 adults, 1 child for £1500.
It's still cheap even though now safe for tourists. We have been before and aren't put off by any troubles.

WreckTangled · 21/12/2018 07:23

We've got a Villa in Spain for the summer holidays next year. It's £700 for the week so far I've only booked the outbound flights (£400) as the return is still too expensive. That's for six of us, pil's will be paying for their share and we need a car and spending money. Reckon our share will be about £2k.

We did New Zealand last year at Easter flights for four were £1200 and had family to stay with so that was cheap. You can get some bargains.

ihatethecold · 21/12/2018 07:23

Is turkey warm enough in October half term?

I
You couldn’t pay me to go to Dubai 🥺

LardLizard · 21/12/2018 07:32

Last year we had a package to Dubai with emirates family of four 2.4k staying 7 nights in a really nice beachfront hotel on Jbr
So I know it can be done for about a week

And I’m not including spending money
Just hotel flights n transfers
Only willing to fly emirates

I do think the flight is shortish Love Cyprus, but as I love hot beach weather I think it’s a bit unpredictable by the end of Oct plus i never find any bargains for Cyprus when I look
