One of my neighbours is a lovely old lady in her 80s.
She loves my OH and they dog walk together. He helps her with anything she needs and she knows she is welcome at our house for anything I think!
She's lovely and how is lime to be in my 80s!

But
She thinks I'm called val!
I'm not.
I'm not that old! 😂
I'm not that bothered and will
Happily answer to val but it's not my name....should I correct her or forget it and be val!?
It made me laugh today . (Unless the OH has another woman called val!)

This made me smile!! You just roll with whatever she calls you OP.

When we were kids my DGran was the warden for the elderly people on an estate, one gentleman always referred to my grandad as Len, wasn't anything like his actual name but it stuck over the years with us in the family. When he died a few years ago all the notices in the paper said 'rest in peace Len'

Also makes me think of & snigger at Trigger in Only Fools & Horses calling Rodney Dave

Just discovered this thread and noticed the Only Fools ref from a PP. It reminded me of Del Boy's partner giving birth and Trigger saying they might name the baby Rodney 'after Dave' Grin

Our mechanic calls DH Paul. Even though he pays by card in the name REAL NAME. After a visit to the garage I call him Paul for a while afterwards!
