Its zero fat cheese. You can use it in sauces but it splits like a bitch so make sire you turn off the heat and leave for about 5 mins before adding. You can make mac cheese out of it and cottage cheese too. Just look up quark and slimming world you will get loads of recipes. Grin

GenericHamster · 18/12/2018 19:50

Quark is quite clearly a Ferengi

ContadoraExplorer · 18/12/2018 20:11

Quark, icing sugar(to taste) and frozen raspberries... makes a lovely dessert!

Slimming World recipes use it quite a lot. Bland on its own but useful for bulking up food instead of cottage cheese, I think. It’s ok.

FrancesFryer · 18/12/2018 20:17

I've used it before instead of ricotta

ILoveDolly · 18/12/2018 20:21

My mum likes it but then she likes carob

marvellousnightforamooncup · 18/12/2018 20:25

Only good if you're on a crash diet and all the food you're allowed is equally joyless.

PickleSarnie · 18/12/2018 20:25

I've used it to make low calorie pesto. Obviously not as nice as pesto with shit loads of pine nuts, parmesan and olive oil but was still nice enough.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 18/12/2018 20:25

I like the flavoured ones, you can buy little pots of it. I have it nearly every day. Lindahls do some great flavours.

winecigsandchoc · 18/12/2018 20:26

Quark is quite clearly a Ferengi

Brilliant! Grin

TinselAngel · 18/12/2018 20:27

I thought Quark was a myth propagated by Slimming World and didn't really exist.

8FencingWire · 18/12/2018 20:33

It’s very very normal and often used on the continent.
Makes THE BEST cheese cake.

halfwitpicker · 18/12/2018 20:42

Cottage cheese's dodgy cousin

overitalready · 18/12/2018 20:45

Throw it away..work of the devil

holidayhope · 18/12/2018 20:47

Quite nice if you shove hot chocolate in it

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/12/2018 20:48

I would never use it in a cheesecake (but that's down to family tradition).

I'm just under six stone and a couple of inches over five foot four. Thank you for the suggestions ☺

I tried using it in lieu of ricotta (supermarket didn't have ricotta 😡). It was ok...different taste and runnier, but small children accepted it in spinach and ricotta (quark) roll.

I'm not overly keen on it as a cheese thing, but I'm now interested in the cheesecake potential.

redsummershoes · 18/12/2018 20:56

it's what's used in germany and austria for cheese cake.
protein rich, low fat.

use as you would otherwise use cream cheese.

Howtodeal · 18/12/2018 20:59

I used to work in a supermarket and an elderly lady came in and asked me to help her find the Quark and the linseed oil. She said she had a spoonful of them both every day to help her stay young. She was 90 and as bouncy as Tigger so I think she was definitely onto sonething!

Flashingbeacon · 18/12/2018 21:00

The Ikea quark dessert is lovely. Sounds like the raspberry and icing sugar one mentioned. I’m delighted I can eat it and pretend I’m dieting.

Kikidelivers · 18/12/2018 21:01

I absolutely love it
I mix it with a few tablespoons of museli
Delicious

WhoWants2Know · 18/12/2018 21:05

There's a vanilla quark at Tesco that is sooooo nice, I could eat it by the bucket.

todayiwin · 18/12/2018 21:07

It's the noise posh ducks make - Quark Quark
