I add vanilla and a bit of icing sugar in and then chuck a teaspoon of it onto a couple of digestive biscuits - cheat mini cheesecakes!

Quark is quite clearly a Ferengi Exactly Xmas Grin

Funny I saw some in the discount section at Tesco today and thought Xmas Shock

What use is it you say? Oh there's only one use for quark.

  1. Open bin lid
  2. Throw in quark
  3. Go out a buy a nice runny, gooey, calorific, tasty Brie instead.
snowone · 18/12/2018 22:03

Quark is quite frankly minging - I'd rather be fat!! 😆

rachelinindia · 18/12/2018 22:13

In German supermarkets there are fridge aisles full of quark in different flavours - love the garlic one with some paprika crisps!

Plain is nice on hot rolls with honey or jam for breakfast.

Quark is evil! Evil I tell you. Nasty stuff pretending to be cheese even worse when someone tells you they have made a lovely dessert and presents what looks to be a cheesecake, a thing of beauty. It wasn't dh won't eat anything said person made ever again and Dd1 refuses point blank to eat cheesecake because she won't chance there being quark in it Envy

Leela2 · 18/12/2018 22:45

Quark with a sachet of cadbury's Options, Quark with mini marshmallows. Quark with frozen berries and broken bits of meringue. Quark with dried peanut butter. I've used it to make stroganoff, pasta bake sauces, cheese sauce. Yep I'm doing Slimming World. It's very filling, full of protein and very versatile.

FuzzyShadowChatter · 18/12/2018 22:51

There are some yoghurt-quarks with the two mixed together and yoghurt-like quarks (Arla Protein is one I know, there are a few others) that I often see sold separately from both the yoghurts and the cooking quark (both plain and savoury additions) used like other soft cheeses.

It's a good high protein food especially if Greek yoghurt is a bit much (though quark doesn't have probiotics like yoghurts), but personally, I prefer skyr which I find nicer and is a bit higher in protein than a lot of yoghurts sold even if not as high in protein as quark or greek yoghurt.

With lemon and honey.

Stirred through pasta in white wine and cream sauce (instead of cream).
