You CAN send Christmas cards AND donate money to charity. Anyone who says they're not sending cards so they can donate the money to charity is just a Scrooge.

fourbaubles Ah yes, but it’s festive Devil’s diarrhea. Love the user name, by the way Smile

GodrestyemerrySchadenfreud · 16/12/2018 17:56

it’s ok just to have a Weetabix or some toast for breakfast on Christmas morning. Or a Terry’s chocolate orange.

Chocolate breakfast is traditional Chez SchadenFreude, fleas

applesauce goes well with every meat

So does mint.

madcatladyforever · 16/12/2018 17:56

That I generally loathe shitmas and refuse to take part.

I don't do cards(never did) or donate to charity. Meh.

Swipetounlock · 16/12/2018 17:58

Flimsy bendy cards that won't stand up. If you are that tight, just don't send one.

IknowTheBoswellJoke · 16/12/2018 17:58

I don't send cards. Christmas, or thank you, or get well.......
If I know you, I will convey my 'wishes' of cheer, health or whatever in person.

TinkerSpy · 16/12/2018 18:00

@ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName

People who have two trees; a tasteful one for them and a “tacky” one for the kids

People do that?! Xmas Shock

Swipetounlock · 16/12/2018 18:00

Children actually prefer playing with the cardboard boxes to playing with their presents. So give them boxes.

itscalledwineflu · 16/12/2018 18:02

I've sent cards to a couple of friends in the post , I don't see very often so I think it's a nice way of letting them know I'm thinking of them, I've stopped sending to colleagues just seams pointless . I send to immediate family and if anyone sends me one . I also donate to charity usually a food bank and my local radio does a gift for a child at Christmas so I do that too .

GodrestyemerrySchadenfreud · 16/12/2018 18:02

*already told my 2 year old Santa isn't real

You Bastard!

itscalledwineflu · 16/12/2018 18:04

What annoys me is people who think there Christmas is the right way like having lunch at 1pm 2pm or 6pm and if you have it differently it's not right . You can eat whenever you like there are no rules .

Hellozzz · 16/12/2018 18:05

Oh FFS I will not send Christmas cards AND I will donate to Charity. You do what you want and I will do what I want.

Merry Christmas x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/12/2018 18:06

The Pogues 'Fairytale of New York' is the worst Christmas song. Utter shite

That, dear *Lemony^ is blasphemy. Xmas Wink

FToNY is the ultimate Christmas song , 2nd place "Christmas Wrapping " The Waitresses and 3rd "Stop the Cavalry" Jona Lewie.

payperview · 16/12/2018 18:06

I don't rate Michael Buble

JustanotherCHRISTMASuser01 · 16/12/2018 18:07

I dont have children BUT if I buy 4 presents for your two children you and husband I fucking expect something half decent and at least thoughtful back you've known me long enough to know I dont drink fucking alcohol and please (this is sooo materialistic) spend more than £2.50 on me for a shit gift from b and m I've just spent £100 on your household!!

MikeUniformMike · 16/12/2018 18:09

What you should do is ask for specific presents for yourself - expensive ones relating to a hobby - and donate money to charity instead of giving presents back.

Lweji · 16/12/2018 18:09

The "magic" of Christmas.

FGS.

Ok, families get together (for better or worse), people decorate their homes, people get out with co-workers, have a few parties, exchange gifts (for better or worse), kids get overwhelmed. Everybody is happy and overjoyed. [laugh]

I don't think the returns deserve the overinvestment.

Swipetounlock · 16/12/2018 18:14

Every bloody glossy magazine going on about how to 'survive' the rigours of the party season. In fact any kind of so called seasonal survival guide whatsoever. Getting a turkey cooked without burning it isn't survival, you twats. Use of that word is so disrepectful to people who are actually struggling to survive.

speakingtruthfully · 16/12/2018 18:17

No stress non-Christmas for me !
Jumping on a plane to somewhere warm where I'm going to sit in the sun and read a few books then when the uk has reached maximum stress levels and calmed down again I come back and get back to work 😀

n0ne · 16/12/2018 18:23

Turkey is yuck, sprouts are delicious (and certainly not just for Christmas). Yorkies are absolutely necessary, as with any roast, but so is macaroni cheese Grin

Secret Santa is perfectly sufficient for adults in the family.

Work Christmas dos are great fun and not something to just be suffered,

RaspberryRipple1963 · 16/12/2018 18:25

My unpopular opinion:- I hate pigs in blankets. runs and hides

SassitudeandSparkle · 16/12/2018 18:29

A step too far with the Buble dislike, OP ...

Thanks for the etiquette tip @Torsz I will now attempt to convince my DH. The donators have fairly strong views on things so don't want to pick anything too controversial.

ElainaElephant · 16/12/2018 18:29

I hate pigs in blankets

I love sausages. I love bacon.

Pigs in blankets are just meh.

PippaParty · 16/12/2018 18:50

I don't send cards and do donate to charity.

I also never display cards sent to me, they go in a drawer and then for recycling. In fact I am not ashamed to admit that when I was a class teacher I didn't ever take home any of the cards sent to me by my little darlings either, they were left at school ready for the gluing table!

Mayra1367 · 16/12/2018 18:55

We have decided not to send cards and instead donate to charity. We will be donating twice what would of been spend in cards so don’t consider myself a Scrooge . The money will be put to much better use than filling recycling bins in January.
