I'm going to treat you all to my unpopular Christmas opinion.

You CAN send Christmas cards AND donate money to charity. Anyone who says they're not sending cards so they can donate the money to charity is just a Scrooge.

What are your unpopular Christmas opinions? Share here.

Maybe he just doesn't give a fuck about the whole commercialised bullshit of it, and would rather go to the pub?

Exactly! Christmas does not have to look like a Pinterest board. Stop creating unnecessary stress for everyone.

AlrightBabby · 16/12/2018 17:15

Boebe, yes, there seems to be gazillions of them this year, probably got them in Maplins closing down sale! 😂

SapphireSeptember · 16/12/2018 17:15

I don't do either too, and I am a Scrooge. If I want to donate money to a charity I'll do it regardless of the time of year.

Christmas 'music' is shite. I like singing proper Christmas carols at church, but that's about it. Yesterday I'd had enough of the shitty music at work so propped up my tablet in the kitchen, played Evanescence and sang along to it. I felt much better!

Yes you can donate money and send Christmas cards. Donate it to saving all the trees that are wasted on Xmas cards each year!

Batshittery · 16/12/2018 17:16

Boebe I agree with you, and you really made me laugh Xmas Grin

payperview · 16/12/2018 17:17

@CurlyhairedAssassin but let's face it, 99% of people are not doing voluntary work instead of sending cards, are they?
Calm down, this is light hearted.

Bestseller · 16/12/2018 17:17

I think it's highly unlikely that most who advertise they are donating instead of sending cards ever get round to making the donation.

Insomnibrat · 16/12/2018 17:17

You can't have Yorkshire puddings on a Christmas dinner.

It just isn't cricket.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/12/2018 17:18

“Maybe they can donate some money, plus more, and write cards!!!!”

Maybe their lives are rather full and their CLOSE friends and family realise this and you know, not only actually don’t mind or even notice, AND even if they do are secretly glad that that’s a teeny bit less environmental damage and needless spending done just for the sake of a few days with a full window ledge or string across a wall.

Cocolepew · 16/12/2018 17:19

I like getting gift sets from Boots.

payperview · 16/12/2018 17:19

Turkey is boring.

OP posts:
Swipetounlock · 16/12/2018 17:20

If you need alcohol to get through the day that's fine, but own it

Yeah and please don't be 'surprised' if you pig out on cake, pudding, pigs in blankets and mince pies and down a litre of Baileys over the festive season that you'll feel like a beached whale come January 1. I don't want to hear about it thanks. Eat your turkey and veg and go for a walk on Boxing Day.

Rosesareredvoiletsareblue · 16/12/2018 17:20

Christmas lights are a waste of time and money (and electricity). And there's no need for the flashings ones that just give you a headache!

The 'but you have to have a tree' thing also pisses me off.

Anythingforacatslife · 16/12/2018 17:21

I don’t send cards or donate money, the only person who’s ever commented on it is my mother, so I’m happy with that!

Torsz · 16/12/2018 17:21

Sort of similar - you shouldn't buy people 'charity donation' presents as you're essentially telling them they don't get a gift this year as you wanted to donate to charity. Instead you should ask people to do a charity donation instead of buying you a gift!

kashleesi · 16/12/2018 17:21

Sod the secret Santa and spend the tenner on yourself.

payperview · 16/12/2018 17:21

@CurlyhairedAssassin zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Fundays12 · 16/12/2018 17:22

I send about 4 cards I don’t believe in them because they are not good for the environment. I only send a few (normally the kids make them) as my mum and MIL appreciate them. I would rather donate money to help other people than fill more recycling plants.

Petalflowers · 16/12/2018 17:22

Shelf on the Elf and Christmas Eve boxes are unnescery evils. As well as Christmas pyjamas, bed linen etc, which shops seem to,think we all need nowadays.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/12/2018 17:22

When you’re going to be having a massive mid afternoon/early evening meal, it’s ok just to have a Weetabix or some toast for breakfast on Christmas morning. Or a Terry’s chocolate orange.

CrookedMe · 16/12/2018 17:22

Judging by the fact that yours is maybe the 15th thread about this, i would say it's quite a popular opinion actually!

payperview · 16/12/2018 17:22

Applesauce goes well with every meat. And bread sauce can GTF out.

OP posts:
Swipetounlock · 16/12/2018 17:23

Crackers. They are shite. They are basically just litter in a decorated bog roll middle.

SoupDragon · 16/12/2018 17:23

Judgmental people who haven’t thought very deeply about other people’s motives don’t make for a very joyful Christmas!

Hell yes!

babysharkdoodoodoodoodoodoo · 16/12/2018 17:23

I'm not really into Christmas, have no Xmas decorations, no Xmas tree and have already told my 2 year old Santa isn't real, the only things we do do are Xmas presents and have Xmas dinner at my parents house because it's tradition
