Your stress dreams

IWouldPreferNotTo · 12/12/2018 15:44

I can always tell when I'm stressed as I get recurring stress dreams. Recently I added a new one, being at a boarding pass kiosk and having to enter a very long confirmation code on a keyboard where the letters were arranged randomly after queue jumping a long queue.

Does anyone else get stress dreams

@weebarra hi! Do you also have dreams where you are trying to shake people off , so they dont follow you to your best beach?

weebarra · 13/12/2018 23:12

No, but I have been known to mutter to DH if I think people are on my beach and peering too intently at the ground! I'm on the south east coast of Scotland, there's nothing here!

otterturk · 13/12/2018 23:26

Biology A level
A masters degree essay I forgot

It's been many years since I (successfully) completed those things

Wordthe · 13/12/2018 23:58

I've had some excellent fight dreams where I won very easily also some excellent driving very very fast dreams
neither of these are things I would do in real life and I suppose they don't really count as stress dreams

Wordthe · 13/12/2018 23:59

I've had some terrifying dreams where wild animals are on the loose, typically lions or huge chimpanzees

HildaZelda · 14/12/2018 00:15

I have an exam one too. I'm doing my history A level exam and suddenly realise I haven't studied. It's ALWAYS history, never any other subject.

The other one is the classic 'teeth falling out'.

VulgarVulva · 14/12/2018 00:28

Teeth falling out/crumbling
Dirty/broken/exposed toilet
Massive steps I can't climb
Stuck up very high, about to fall off.

Tortycat · 14/12/2018 00:35

Funny how so many similar themes come up.

Rarely dream now (toddler who is an awful sleeper), but previously had the

  • teeth falling out
  • trying to get ready for big event but not right clothes, no make up etc
  • specific one. Im a therapist. When stressed and burnt out in my last job i used to dream I'd found a phone message that a client was going to jump off a tall building. But not when or which one so i desperately ran round a city looking at rooftops looking for them. definately a sign i needed a break!!
Wordthe · 14/12/2018 00:51

I have one where Im expected to squeeze myself through a very tiny space
other people seem to manage it perfectly fine but I can't imagine how they get through it and I feel scared of trying

Mrsjohnmurphy · 14/12/2018 01:36

Does anyone else have a recurring dream where they are back at school/uni and you are struggling along, whatever. Then you realise when it's exam time that you have already gained the qualification and it's all pointless?

Mrsjohnmurphy · 14/12/2018 01:38

It's a subtle difference with the common haven't revised trope Confused

Flashingbeacon · 14/12/2018 02:02

It’s quite nice to read other people’s similar dreams. I have the suddenly remembering a shed full of pets I haven’t looked after. I feel as awful as I would in real life but considering my animals sleep on my bed dunno where it comes from.
I’ve been diagnosed with a terrrible illness. There’s a cure but I need someone to give me a lift and no one will, even though I shrivel up in front of them.
There’s zombies everywhere, I have to get the cure to Paris (always Paris). Usually by bike. From Glasgow. Sometimes the government take ds hostage. Sometimes other governments try and intercept. If I don’t wake up before the channel tunnel I can feel them tearing at me as I try and drag myself forward. Always wake up exhausted (from all the cycling).
Most hated of all is the one where my dad says he’s got something to tell me but it’s private so I follow him along endless corridors and stairs but we can never find an empty room. He died when I was 20, I know this is in the dream and am desperate to hold him and tell him about ds but he won’t stop walking. If I was remotely woo it would fuck me up. As it is it stays with me.

bluetongue · 14/12/2018 07:29

I’ve never heard of anyone else having the forgotten pet dream before. I’m a bit excited it’s not just me! I used to own horses so my dream involves having a horse at livery, often in a stable, that I haven’t bothered seeing in months. It often transpires that I’ve been trying to sell the horse for months or years

bananafish81 · 14/12/2018 08:03

My stress dreams are very predictable, already mentioned on the thread - the exam dream and the teeth falling out dream

The teeth one I wake up and think PHEW as I discover my teeth are all still there

Except for the time I had an inception style dream within a dream - whereby I woke up (in the dream) and my teeth weren't still there. Terrifying. THEN I woke up. Teeth all still there, thank fuck

bananafish81 · 14/12/2018 08:07

Mrsjohnmurphy yes - although mine is I'm there at university at the start of the academic year and I'm trying to insist to my tutor that I've already done my finals, and have the degree certificate to prove it, and don't need to repeat my final year. They keep insisting that I do.

Boiledeggandtoast · 14/12/2018 08:20

Wordthe. I also have stress dreams about a lion being on the loose. No idea why.

CurlsandCurves · 14/12/2018 08:58

My stress levels must be through the roof because last night I had a verrry ‘interesting’ dream involving Nick Knowles. Usually it’s Jeremy Kyle and that’s bad enough...

AlpacaPicnic · 14/12/2018 09:59

Bigstripeybastard , I have the same dream about my workplace! It's closing time and people won't leave, more and more people show up, they're all irate and fighting and shouting ... It's literally hours after we should have closed and there are still hundreds of people demanding to be served...

Then I wake up feeling as if I've done a whole day of work already - and have to go to work!

Wordthe · 14/12/2018 10:33

I have the forgotten pets or forgotten babies dream, I frequently dream that I'm still living with my parents and I hate it, I gradually realise with relief that I do have my own place and I earn my own money

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 14/12/2018 11:45

I lose a child or I’ve left someone else’s child somewhere. And I can’t get to them and there are loads of ridiculous obstacles in the way like I can’t dial the right phone number or the key won’t go in the ignition.

I wake up and run round the house. Scares the shit out of everyone.

crappygilmore · 14/12/2018 11:55

Packing one hear.
Always even though I have been known to start packing weeks in advance. Esp festival season. I always get their and shit forgot major items like bed or heaven forbid the beers.

greathat · 14/12/2018 14:07

I dreamed the queen had come to stay. I had no idea why, but it was very stressful
Finding ways to entertain the queen

greathat · 14/12/2018 14:09

And the generic teacher nightmare of a class completely out of control
