Your stress dreams

I can always tell when I'm stressed as I get recurring stress dreams. Recently I added a new one, being at a boarding pass kiosk and having to enter a very long confirmation code on a keyboard where the letters were arranged randomly after queue jumping a long queue.

Does anyone else get stress dreams

All my teeth falling out in succession: very regularly occurs.

Less frequent - going back to school now to sit A levels and being aware that a) I haven't been in class and don't know the syllabus but simultaneously b) this is because I'm a professor irl. Still makes me wake up crying, though Hmm

MeganChips · 13/12/2018 19:44

I have 3 recurring stress dreams. I also get the packing one.

The second is plane crashes. Not being in one but witnessing it.

Finally spiders. I don’t exactly like spiders but I’m not phobic however in this dream there is giant one running up the quilt towards my head. This one always wakes me up and I turn the light on and go looking for it!

Piewacket · 13/12/2018 19:47

I have a recurring dream where I'm way high up clinging to scaffolding made from steel poles. It's nighttime, cold and pissing down with rain, so the poles are slippery and cold and my feet keep sliding off. I look down and the ground is too far away to see in the darkness. I look up and there's just more scaffolding.

All the poles are quite far away from each other so it's a real effort to climb up or down and my knees and elbows ache.

Sometimes I try to climb up...sometimes down...the dream never really ends... (I really don't like that one!)

hugoagogo · 13/12/2018 19:47

Forgotten small furry animals here too, mine have usually massively multiplied. Hundreds of guinea pigs living in squalid conditions.Blush

Even more frequently than that I dream I need the loo, but can't find anywhere to go! Usually there is a loo, but is either not private, disgustingly filthy or on one memorable occasion only accessible on a swing!

Suzysuz · 13/12/2018 19:48

Oh my goodness workshyfop I have that toilet one too!!!!! Blush They’re always really awful and with salon style half swing doors so not very discrete, I haven’t had that for ages but it has been a recurring one for me! Thought it was just me being strange Grin

Suzysuz · 13/12/2018 19:49

And the dirty toilet / half / swing doors now seems to be a common one too!

ThatPlanWorked · 13/12/2018 19:50

I dream that my teeth crumble and fall out. When I’m really stressed this dream isn’t vivid and I can actually ‘feel’ the crumbling Confused. My teeth are fine!!

Lunaballoon · 13/12/2018 19:57

In one of my stress dreams, I’m looking up at a clear blue sky and two planes are on a collision course and I feel powerless to stop the ensuing crash. I dread waking up in case the dream was prophetic and there’s been a real life crash.

ikltownofboothlehem · 13/12/2018 20:04

I'm in a play but have either never been to any rehearsals or have totally forgotten my lines. There are spare scripts backstage but my part has been covered in black felt tip or I read the words but they won't go in.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 13/12/2018 20:05

I suffer from sleep paralysis when I'm stressed but also have recurring dreams.

Seeing a plane crash. Everytime I have this dream I think to myself in it 'this is definitely real life, it's not a dream this time' because I have them so often.

Also dream I'm on a plane but it's driving around amongst traffic on the road trying to find somewhere to take off.

Trying to call or text someone but not being able to press the correct keys. This is really frustrating.

Being at a wedding and having no make up, messy hair and casual clothes and being unable to change.

ikltownofboothlehem · 13/12/2018 20:05

Oh yes! Being at college but not knowing what lesson is next or where it is. Then I think 'well I've missed so many lessons and not done any work so I might as well drop out'.

MaMisled · 13/12/2018 20:10

Im back with exH (after 17 years apart), living in absolute luxury but aching and hurting to be with my DH. I cant leave the house and have no phone. Im trapped. ExH was not remotely controlling or nasty so its very weird.

SwimmingKaren · 13/12/2018 20:11

I always have some kind of emergency and can’t dial my phone.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 13/12/2018 20:12

Swimming that's the same as me it's really frustrating I end up waking up as I get so anxious in the dream.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 13/12/2018 20:12

@EatSleepRantRepeat stress dreams aren't funny and I apologise, but that really made me giggle.

I have a few: one where my DD is crying but I physically cannot get to her. Proper gut-wrenching, painful sobs.
I wake up with a tight chest every time.

Titsywoo · 13/12/2018 20:13

Teeth falling out, losing a child, not being able to dial the correct number in an emergency, being naked or part naked somewhere public, being in a lift and it dropping to the ground.

Echobelly · 13/12/2018 20:13

Repeatedly missing buses/trains, or train/bus goes the wrong way to somewhere unfamiliar.

Driving a car or vehicle but the driving seat is really high up, like 10ft or more so I can't see the properly road at all, or driving but not being able to steer or brake properly. Often I seem to crash into something, but no actual damage is done.

Also needing the loo but all the toilets are open to view of any passers by or they're too disgusting to use

ikltownofboothlehem · 13/12/2018 20:13

Yes! I have the phone not working dreams too. I'm trying to phone in sick but the phones aren't working or I can't dial or remember the numbers. The clocks are all showing different times so I don't know the right one. If I don't speak to a manager by 10am I'll be fired (in my dream).

Titsywoo · 13/12/2018 20:14

Oh and also being suddenly in another country and having to get on a plane (I hate flying). I clearly am too stressed in my life! Grin

SwimmingKaren · 13/12/2018 20:14

I remember hearing that the dirty / damaged toilet one happens to stop you from peeing the bed or similar in real life?

hopefullybettersoon · 13/12/2018 20:15

Packing. Always about packing to go somewhere. I'm sure there's a hidden meaning somewhere...

ikltownofboothlehem · 13/12/2018 20:16

Really oddly I don't care if I'm naked / half naked in dreams. I just think 'meh, sod it'. No idea what that says about me! Grin

Echobelly · 13/12/2018 20:16

@PivotPivotPIVOTTT - ah, yes, I get similar to that wedding dream as well - sometimes it's a wedding, sometimes it's a club or somewhere else you'd get dressed up and I only have really dull, boring casual clothes on!

DollyTots · 13/12/2018 20:17

I have an awful recurring dream where I've forgotten to feed my goldfish and they're on the brink of starving. Usually I don't have the food and have to try and feed them something random but luckily fish food has recently worked it's way into the dream and I can save the quite easily. I haven't had fish for over a decade and I always wake up in a sweat after. It's the lamest stress dream ever but there you go.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 13/12/2018 20:20

Mostly my anxiety dreams involve me trying to get away from something, but not managing it.
I had several as a teen where we'd been given a half hour warning of a nuclear strike and we needed to pack and go. My dad then starts faffing around, doing everything very slowly and then disappearing for a long loo break. I can remember getting more and more stressed.
I get the tooth dream too, but it's that I've just lost one tooth but due to other people I can't get to the dentist. Every time I think "Oh no, not this dream again!" and someone says "No, this time it's real." and I believe them.
