I give you a tin of tuna and a set of paper napkins. Thanks, Granny.

You've already opened it?

SophieSellerman · 11/12/2018 22:14

I opened it in 1984, Molly. I was hoping for a Duran Duran calendar. I have never recovered from the disappointment.

A set of reusable ant-themed toothpicks.

Leeds2 · 11/12/2018 22:19

A bathmat, from my (then) partner.

ny20005 · 11/12/2018 22:21

Age 12, got some Christmas thongs from an elderly great aunt - one had a string of pearls as the thong bit & other had tinsel 😂

Blankiefan · 11/12/2018 22:23

MIL once bought (my DH) her 25yo son an full height Egyptian Mummy CD case.

Burlea · 11/12/2018 22:23

Bathroom waste bin(used) with a bar of soap and an open bottle of bubble bath.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 11/12/2018 22:24

A bit early for this

TheHobbitMum · 11/12/2018 22:25

In 2017 I received a copy of the 2014 Official Rules of Golf handbook Hmm Thanks DH! He only bought it as a joke gift and not the only gift I got thankfully Grin

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 11/12/2018 22:25

A tea bag bin from my recently ex.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 11/12/2018 22:26

My XMIL once gave me a dustpan & brush for christmas

Maelstrop · 11/12/2018 22:30

A used, naked, dirty Barbie doll, hair all tangled. I'd wanted one when I was like 8. The year I got it, I was 14.

OrigamiZoo · 11/12/2018 22:31

A single decorated wine glass, the kind of thing you buy for a relative from tk max when desperate on xmas eve at 4pm.

It was from DP. He said we needed wine glasses.

A photo frame in the shape of a penguin from ikea children's section, from my sister. I later learnt she went to some work promotion event at ikea and got a very high discount. All her gifts came from there that year. She bought my brother a huge yellow bedspread, which he had to take on the plane home and SIL grumbling at the stupidity of such a gift.
That was the year I realised how stupid all the gift giving for the sake of gift giving was.

SophieSellerman · 11/12/2018 22:33

I am loving these. I needed a laugh.

Zero, I am not talking about presents received this year. Granny died some time ago, so I am hoping for better than a tin of tuna.

A cd by Neil Sedaka (bad already) singing his own lyrics to various pieces of classical music. Off with wrapping paper and straight into bin.

90percentvodka10percenthuman · 11/12/2018 22:42

A smoke alarm and a door lock

LittleLongDog · 11/12/2018 22:47

’I opened it in 1984, Molly.’
Grin This really tickled me.

Kismetjayn · 11/12/2018 22:50

Half a tin of custard powder.

LuckyAmy1986 · 11/12/2018 22:51

Maelstrop that’s really sad. Who was it from?

ChodeofChodeHall · 11/12/2018 22:58

A hideous medallion set with a huge green stone (about 6cm across) on a long, thick, yellow metal chain, from my grandparents about 10 years ago. They usually bought great presents, I have no idea what had got into them.

Topseyt · 11/12/2018 23:12

A gold coloured toothbrush from my MIL.

No offence. It was a joke present and received as such.

SophieSellerman · 11/12/2018 23:18

PMSL at half a ton of custard powder. At least Granny hadn’t started on the tuna.

A three pack of size 16 Bridget Jones pants from an aunt when I was 15 ( I was a 10 at the timeConfused)

SophieSellerman · 11/12/2018 23:20

Sodding ipad. Though I’m not sure whether half a tin or half a ton of custard powder would be worse.

Kismetjayn · 11/12/2018 23:21

Is the half ton in a container?

It was my 23rd birthday present from my parents :')
