They were restocking.
I got
The last fresh BBQ rotisserie chicken for 95p
A kilo of scotch stewing steak for £7.50
2 large smoked gammons reduced from £15 each to £2.85 each

What's been your bargain?

Good bargains! My best was a £6 M&S pizza for £1.50

formerbabe · 11/12/2018 18:36

Love a bargain. I once got a bag of carrots reduced to 4p! They may as well just have given it away for free!

Fannyfanakerpants · 11/12/2018 18:40

Waitrose do the best reduced bits. My dh got some pak choi for less than 20p a few weeks a go. Which would have been a real bargain if we had anything else to go with it, so it went to waste.

A massive Thornton's chocolate cake in Tesco, reduced from £20 to £2. And loads of bars of Dairy Milk reduced from £1 to 10p.

Lots of M&S food at 90% off.

An electric blanket from Wilkinsons reduced from about £25 to £2.

A big tub of protein powder in Sainsbury's reduced from £20 to 50p.

4p hair dye from Superdrug. And 5p sachets of John Frieda conditioner.

A pushchair from Asda that was accidentally priced as being free (plus about a fiver for next day delivery). I sold it for £80.

Once or twice I was actually paid to take away a basket full of Waitrose shopping, because they had a price glitch involving reduced items that were on multibuy (which no longer works unfortunately).

And lots more that I've probably forgotten. Bargain hunting is one of my favourite hobbies Grin

30p for a bag of organic carrots at M&S.

formerbabe · 11/12/2018 18:58

A large black handbag from Accessorize for £2!

jellybeanteaparty · 11/12/2018 18:59

Tesco boxing day , a turkey for 50p!

Strawberryhat · 11/12/2018 19:00

Delicious, still fresh Sainsbury’s bakery ham doughnuts for 20p. Bag of five.

Strawberryhat · 11/12/2018 19:00

^JAM not ham. A ham doughnut would not be a pleasant thing

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/12/2018 19:03

🤢

DaisysStew · 11/12/2018 19:08

I got 1.5kg of Maris Pipers from Asda for 9p a while ago. And once in Superdrug I got some end of line L’Oréal shampoo and conditioner for 20p a bottle.

My mums the queen of bargains though - she recently got a brand new Tassimo machine for £6 online (the woman selling it had received it as a gift but hated coffee).

sliceoflife · 11/12/2018 19:08

A climbing rose bush for 10p from Homebase. Must have been over 15 years ago, but it still flowers every year.

sleepyhead · 11/12/2018 19:13

My best one was going inti Waitrose on Christmas Eve a few years ago and all the Christmas food was marked down to practically nothing. I filled a trolley, and subsequently the freezer, as we were travelling to my parents' that evening so didn't already have an overflowing fridge.

We were living off pigs in blankets etc for most of January.

Speak for yourself!

xyzandabc · 11/12/2018 19:17

I worked in Waitrose until closing time on Christmas Eve one year. They massively overstocked on turkeys. Got an £80 turkey for £5. Cooked it on Boxing Day, froze it in portions and used it for a whole year!

clumsyduck · 11/12/2018 19:21

This thread makes me weirdly happy I love a bargain ! I live near a big supermarket "local" version so Iv had loads of stuff down to stupid prices for example 9 pence for ready meals 4 pence for a loaf. Such a thrill Grin

Millie2013 · 11/12/2018 19:27

I recently bought enough sunscreen for 2019 and 2020 from our local Tesco express for 11p/bottle (Nivea). The woman on the till laughed. Who’s laughing now?
(Still her, probably 😂)

Bejazzled · 11/12/2018 19:28

I too love a bargain. Particularly when I'm not looking for it like tonight.

The climbing rose is a good one, pleasure every year 🌹

Got a Morrison's rotisserie chicken for 50p recently, she was due to go home. Butcher at Morrison's slips me bones for free.

TheChippendenSpook · 11/12/2018 19:31

This was years ago and might take some explaining: I went to the shop with my mum to get some sparklers for bonfire night. They were £1 for a little pack and were in the little boxes that they arrived in the shop in.
We asked for four packets and were absent mindedly chatting to the assistant as she packed our shopping. It wasn't until we got home that we realised that she had sold us four of the boxes, containing loads of packets of sparklers for £1 each.

hidinginthenightgarden · 11/12/2018 19:45

Sent DH into morrisons once for a cake to take to a party. We had promised to take dessert and then left it at home!
He comes out empty handed and says nothing suitable at a good price. One is reduced to £4ish and looked okay.
I went in and found a cake reduced to £2.50. Get in the car and it is the same one DH had seen 10 mins before. They had reduced it further in the time between us discussing the cake. It was a big cake too!

SconNotScone · 11/12/2018 19:52

I fondly remember the day, as a uni student (approx 2004) I went to Tesco, and picked up a fresh chicken and a birthday cake (proper one with fondant icing) for 20p each. Those were the days.

Flyingarcher · 11/12/2018 19:55

So do I risk not ordering a turkey and leaving it until the last minute on Christmas eve and dash into Waitrose? Son is working there that day. He could text me when they start reducing...

bobstersmum · 11/12/2018 19:57

A tub of asda luxury ice cream for 10p cafe latte flavour so I was dubious, but I got 30p worth. It was delicious!

MrsJayy · 11/12/2018 20:02

My dd got an MnS ready meal for 50p, I have got a gammon joint for £2.50 and a fresh Turkey crown for 4 quid on a christmas eve, I often get cheap jam donuts for pennies
