They were restocking.

A kilo of scotch stewing steak for £7.50
2 large smoked gammons reduced from £15 each to £2.85 each

What's been your bargain?

I never get bargains like this! I always look though.

OliviaStabler · 20/12/2018 14:23

Food delivery from Waitrose the other week and they gave me an item for free (Duchy wholegrain muffins) as the expiry date was the next day and they didn't want to disappoint me. I was delighted.

RB68 · 20/12/2018 14:24

I love a bargain - have been missing them this month as had no car for a bit - but roll on late christmas eve and boxing day meat bargains - hoping to stock up for a frugal Jan

StealthPolarBear · 20/12/2018 14:27

Formerbabe they did that once in a supermarket we were in. I think it was two bags of carrots per person. We got one each and I was very pleased :)

DailyMailFail101 · 20/12/2018 14:30

Bought my Christmas cards yesterday, only had hideously expensive ones left £8.99 per pack took it to the till they hadn’t been reduced to 15p 😁 so glad I waited till the last minute.

Missingstreetlife · 20/12/2018 14:32

Fanny that's a complete cop out. You could use it anywhere that a green veg is ok, or in a stir fry

Melamin · 20/12/2018 14:33

A couple of years ago, I got packets of party food, 3 for 2, reduced, for -2p but they seem to have stopped that now Sad

ohwellinthatcasetryprunes · 20/12/2018 14:35

6 fresh crusty rolls for 8p. Morrisons yesterday.

SportTeam · 20/12/2018 14:35

Is it luck or do you know the special reduction time?

EssentialHummus · 20/12/2018 14:36

Our freezer is full of reduced Sainsbury’s cakes! About 50p each for a cake that serves 10.

chocolateworshipper · 20/12/2018 14:36

The Body Shop once had a glitch on their website where a product I love was £0. You couldn't check out with a zero balance, so I ordered the cheapest item they sold to go with it. Very happy with that.

luckylavender · 20/12/2018 14:50

A dozen eggs in Poundland for 25p

CmdrIvanova · 20/12/2018 14:52

A man's suit from m&s for 2p

GrainOfSalt · 20/12/2018 14:56

Two lamb shanks for 88p each, a steak pie (family size) for 15p, three loaves of bread 8p each, 6 pack of corner yogurts for 20p, sprouts for 7p and a mixed bag of croissants/ rolls etc for 8p. I love a good bargain Grin

TheDogsMother · 20/12/2018 15:01

I always think I will leave it til Christmas Eve and just get whatever is marked down, but I always lose my nerve Grin

Got some lovely seeded rolls from the bakery at M & S for 5p each. Also fresh baked loaves for 20p. I love a bargain.

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 20/12/2018 15:41

There was a marvellous time when our new Little Waitrose had just opened and they were still working out exactly what their customer demographic was.
We ate like kings for those few months Grin

fussychica · 20/12/2018 16:36

I love a bargain. It gives me more pleasure than almost anything.

Our Waitrose has £70 real Xmas trees for a tenner today. They were beautiful and I was very tempted but ultimately resisted as I really don't need one and redressing would be a painXmas Smile.

Best bargains were probably in Waitrose a few years ago when I got best mince for 1p because of some multi buy offer deal. It was perfectly legit but they finally twigged a couple of years ago and they don't do that now.

MadMum101 · 20/12/2018 16:51

Today I got a beautiful 8 ft real Christmas tree for £8 from Tesco. They had been selling them for £35 up until the day before yesterday. I didn't want to put a real one up too early due to the needledrop so was disappointed they seemed to be all gone yesterday.

Glad I waited.

EffOrf · 20/12/2018 17:01

I got a turkey for about a pound last year in M&S after Christmas. it was the end of the day and they wanted rid.

isseywithcats · 20/12/2018 17:03

my best one was in sainsburys when my partner and i moved in together buying our first together food shop using his nectar points £112 worth of food for 92 pence

Soubriquet · 20/12/2018 17:04

Party pop teenies double surprise from poundstretchers

Usually £10 in Sainsbury’s and other similar stores.

Poundstretchers were £3.99

I got two Grin

JingsMahBucket · 20/12/2018 19:31

@isseywithcats my OH has regaled me with stories about him and his ex being able to do the entire Christmas food shop solely based on Nectar points they had saved throughout the year. They'd leave the shop with £100 – £150 of food for free or nearly free.

The supermarket point schemes in the country where we currently live are absolutely shite. It takes forever/4 months just to build up a €5 credit. We can't wait to move back to the UK next year and be rolling in Nectar points! I am also super excited about the insanely good yellow sticker bargains the UK has. We could probably trim our food budget by half.

(Yes, we're pathetic, we know. Grin)
