The most beautiful love song ever....

Clawdy · 10/12/2018 15:50

For me, it has to be this, especially Chet Baker's version from the 1940s :
"I get along without you very well,
Of course I do,
Except to hear your name,

Or someone 's laugh that is the same....."
And the last lines:
"Except perhaps in Spring,
But I should never think of Spring,
For that would surely break my heart in two..."
It gets me every time! What song do you find beautiful?

Hozier - Work Song

Boys workin' on empty
Is that the kind'a way to face the burning heat?
I just think about my baby
I'm so full of love I could barely eat
There's nothing sweeter than my baby
I'd never want once from the cherry tree
'Cause my baby's sweet as can be
She give me toothaches just from kissin' me
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her

It’s not that beautiful, but I adore thus, written as an older couple looking back.

Prettiest Eyes - The Beautiful South

Line one is the time
That you, you first stayed over at mine
And we drank our first bottle of wine
And we cried
Line two we're away
And we both, we both had nowhere to stay
Well the bus-shelter's always OK
When you're young
Now you're older and I look at your face
Every wrinkle is so easy to place
And I only write them down just in case
That you die
Let's take a look at these crows feet, just look
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Sixty 25th of Decembers
Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
Not through the age or the failure, children
Not through the hate or despise
Take a good look at these crows feet
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Line three I forget
But I think, I think it was our first ever bet
And the horse we backed was short of a leg
Never mind
Line four in a park
And the things, the things that people do in the dark
I could hear the faintest beat of your heart
Then we did
Now you're older and I look at your face
Every wrinkle is so easy to place
And I only write them down just in case
You should die
Lets take a look at these crows feet, just look
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Sixty 25th of Decembers
Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
You can't have too many good times, children
You can't have too many lines
Take a good look at these crows feet
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Well my eyes look like a map of the town
And my teeth are either yellow or they're brown
But you'll never hear the crack of a frown
When you are here
You'll never hear the crack
Of a frown

You got the love

So powerful and reverential
“When food is gone you are my daily meal”

DoctorTwo · 11/12/2018 05:28

Not a love song per se but a just been dumped song.

Too Late by The Streets. This song had a profound effect on my nephew and his fellow death metal fan friends when I played it for them. At least 3 of these rufty tufty types cried and the rest of them were very quiet. I didn't laugh until I was alone, honest...

They played it about 20 times consecutively and thought it was really sophisticated. But that's Yeovil in the early Noughties I suppose.

Hidingtonothing

Agree with Set The Fire To The Third Bar.

Underrated song, with really clever lyrics. Became 'our song' when DH worked away for 6 months.

The Wedding Song by Angus & Julia Stone:
"We're gonna build a life together
You and I for ever and ever
And we'll make babies on the beach
Under the stardust
And I'll hear your voice come through the door
A thousand times, maybe more
And I'll smile inside to know you're mine
Completely mine"

Awww man!

The Blowers daughter Damien rice

And so it is just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is the shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
