The most beautiful love song ever....

For me, it has to be this, especially Chet Baker's version from the 1940s :
"I get along without you very well,
Of course I do,
Except to hear your name,

Or someone 's laugh that is the same....."
And the last lines:
"Except perhaps in Spring,
But I should never think of Spring,
For that would surely break my heart in two..."
It gets me every time! What song do you find beautiful?

stayathomer - just had to have a listen on Youtube. Made my evening - Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman really do it justice!

AnyFucker · 10/12/2018 20:02

My love song for my first born: Sunshine by Gabrielle

And also a great love song by Gabrielle again this time the one she did with East 17. Very under rated singer, Brian Harvey.

AnyFucker · 10/12/2018 20:04

Sorry, the East 17 one was If You Ever

Less obvious but still amazingly beautiful and powerful :

Just Be - Paloma Faith

PleaseJustSayNo · 10/12/2018 20:08

Everlong (Acoustic) is special too

Cat Stevens "How can I tell you.."

It has me in tears every time I listen :

Wherever I am girl
I'm always walking with you
I'm always walking with you
But I look and you're not there
Whoever I'm with
I'm always, always talking to you
I'm always talking to you
And I'm sad that you can't hear
Sad that you can't hear

No necessarily a love song, but elbow's on day like this always reminds me of when I had my middle daughter, we tried for 6 years to have another baby and had given up hope then I fell pregnant. I remember lying in the hospital bed at 5.30 in the morning watching the sun come up holding her in my arms, certain lines in the sing remind me of that moment x

Benjaminbuttonschild · 10/12/2018 20:17

Pictures Of You and Just Like Heaven - both by The Cure.

Bon Jovi - Always. The drums at the start of the song make my heart skip a beat.

ShotsFired · 10/12/2018 20:17

Another vote for Roberta Flack, but specifically this opening line:

The first time, ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes

Also, this line from All Of Me by John Legend:

Love your curves and all your edgesAll your perfect imperfections

Both of them encapsulate how I wish someone would feel about me.

From the same '12 Songs' album 'What's It Gonna Be? - Neil Diamond

Paloma Faith's 'New York', where she's jealous of a city and a way of life taking her man is good too.
