The most beautiful love song ever....

For me, it has to be this, especially Chet Baker's version from the 1940s :
"I get along without you very well,
Of course I do,
Except to hear your name,

Or someone 's laugh that is the same....."
And the last lines:
"Except perhaps in Spring,
But I should never think of Spring,
For that would surely break my heart in two..."
It gets me every time! What song do you find beautiful?

Unsurprisingly, 'The Luckiest' - Ben Folds.

I don't get many things right the first time,
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns the stumbles,
And falls brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face,
Now I see it every day
And I know
That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest

What if I had been born fifty years before you
In a house on the street
Where you lived
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike. Would I know?
And in a wide sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest
I love you more then have
Ever found the way to say
To you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties and one day
Passed away in his sleep,
And his wife, she stayed for a couple of days, and passed away
I'm sorry I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong,
That I know
That I am, I am, I am, the luckiest

Jeff Buckley & Liz Fraser: All flowers in time bend towards the sun. Divine 😍

Ella Fitzgerald: Someone to watch over me. (Mine and my Husbands song...💕)

Real Love, by the Beatles but it’s Tom Odell that is my favourite. It’s from the penguin John Lewis advert and that was just after I had met my now husband and was so happy that Christmas after a terrible year.

You are my sunshine, the Jasmine Thomson version

Random but I also love Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera - technically a break up song but it’s so positive and lovely.

TheOnlyUpsyOne · 10/12/2018 19:11

Also, Tom Waits, 'Martha'

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 10/12/2018 19:22

I love these threads, some corkers here. Jeff Buckley always gives me tingles, what a voice. Gone far too soon.

My song for DS is You are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder. I was in quite a dark place after he was born and I used to sing that to him as he was indeed the sunshine in the darkness.

How could I have forgotten the sublime Come What May from Moulin Rouge?

Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesn´t seem such a waste
It all revolves around you

Has to be first day of my life by bright eyes...

Yours was the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
I don't know where I am, I don't know where I've been
But I know where I want to go
And so I'd thought I'd let you know
That these things take forever, I especially am slow
But I realized that need you
And I wondered if I could come home
I remember the time you drove all night
Just to meet me in the morning
And I thought it was strange, you said everything changed
You felt as if you just woke up
And you said
"This is the first day of my life
I'm glad I didn't die before I met you
But now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you
And I'd probably be happy"

Not a love song in a romantic way but a love song to a child. Makes me bawl everything
