My friends and I are putting together a list of fifty fun things to do before we are fifty. Nothing expensive. Things like swim off the English coast, dance all nught, learn to make cocktails, etc. Any ideas? All thoughts appreciated. X

Get out of your comfort zone.
Go somewhere you've never very been ( city break ? )
Do something you've never done ( experience ) eg ballooning
Taste something you've never tried ( tasting session, unusual restraunt, )
Look like you've never looked ( personal shopper, haircut, pro makeup demo)
Feel different,( spa, massage, guided meditation)

It costs just under a hundred pounds, but there's a place in the lake district where you can walk with wolves, actual wolves! Wolves! I love wolves, so it's something I'm going to try to get as a present for myself next year because it's my idea of heaven.

Bloodybridget · 11/12/2018 18:10

Have a Night at the Opera (ENO tickets from £12)

And a Day at the Races (you can go to some race meetings free, just dabble on the Tote if you want to. But people and horse watching, moving from the pre-race paddock to the stands to the winners' arena is the best bit anyway.)

Run a marathon/half marathon/10k/5k depending on fitness levels. Learning to run is great fun.

Join a choir

Learn a new dance style

Do something you've always meant to do but never got round to. Last year I went up Monument in London. I've wanted to do that since I was 18 but never got round to it until I was 52. Great views and it only costs about £3.

Best thing I ever did when I turned 50 was have a year of doing something I'd never done before every single day for a year. Could be tiny - from trying a new cafe or new drink, walking down a new street etc to major things like learning a completely new skill that led to a brilliant work project I'd never have been considered for before.

Go to Airkix (?) - indoor skydiving at Milton Keynes, but I think there are wind tunnels available throughout the UK.

Walk over the O2.

Go to an Escape Room.

Go to a bra fitting.

Go to the horse races.

Try an animal experience at a zoo.

Live without your phones/internet for a week/fortnight.

Form a team for a local pub quiz.

Go wine tasting.

Go to the Sky Garden in London - it is free, book in advance, and offers similar views to the Shard.

Visit every street/station etc mentioned on the Monopoly board.

Volunteer at somewhere that interests you, and commit to at least a year.
