Original Lucozade in tiny regular sips. It's like a magic potion.

Sforsh49 · 08/12/2018 19:44

The only thing that sorted me out last New Year's Day when I was similar to you was a full, large, Selfridges Luxury Christmas Pudding and custard. It was like a miracle cure at 7pm! You have my sympathy!

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 19:45

A bottle of coke.

Rehydration sachet, mars bar & flat coke

A pertinent post as I had an atrocious hangover this morning. Feeling better now but looking forward to that feeling of relief when you wake up on the morning after the morning after.

In answer to your question, the only thing that has had any benefit for me is Diorylite - you know, those little rehydration sachets you mix with water and take for diarrhea. If I've got the presence of mind (!) to take one before going to bed, I find it can almost entirely prevent a hangover, even after a very heavy night. Taking them in the morning isn't as good, but it does help to reduce the stomach upset and general queasiness.

Honestly though, when a hangover is bad, the only real cure is time. You will be OK tomorrow, impossible thought that may seem right now!

@Sforsh49
Even the thought of food makes me want to 🤢

Just go to bed now and you'll feel much better in the morning!

HippoLatte · 08/12/2018 19:50

A big pint of ice cold milk and something carby then some pain killers and a nap then a big chinese when I wake up again.

DirtyBlonde · 08/12/2018 19:51

Fluids

I have a friend who swears by flat cola. I usually just sip water and eat (if I can face it) easy comfort food (toast)

IcedPurple · 08/12/2018 19:52

Yeah I'm always baffled when people recommend a 'fry-up' or the like for a hangover. I wonder if they mean a fairly mild hangover? When I've got a bad one, I can hardly keep down a slice of bread!

I'm travelling for work right now and I always look forward to a relaxing hotel breakfast on Saturdays when I don't have to rush off for work. This morning I couldn't even touch a croissant! I even threw up a little at the table, but thankfully it was only a little and I caught it with a few napkins. Waiter thought I was having a coughing fit and I didn't try to correct him!

When you’re that ill just try to sleep it off. Carbs and lucozade sport works for me once I can eat

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 08/12/2018 19:59

I have been so ill today, in between bed, sofa and loo all day. Takeaway curry seems to have cured me bizarrely. It was touch and go, could have gone either way.

Sugary coke and crisps are normal go to and lots of sleep.

We will feel amazing tomorrow 😎😎

GhostSauce · 08/12/2018 20:01

You need a chicken dansak, a saag aloo, and about 10 packets of crisps.

Salty salty carby crisps.

itscalledwineflu · 08/12/2018 20:02

I've never felt this bad , like most have said carbs and fizzy drinks work well but I feel too bad to eat . Definitely bed for me in a bit , today has been a right off which has annoyed me . Dare I say I'm never drinking again Grin

itscalledwineflu · 08/12/2018 20:03

@GhostSauce I nearly ran to the bathroom again at that suggestion 🤢 thanks anyway

Berocca.

Failing that, half fat Coke, half water.

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 08/12/2018 20:08

Sex

itscalledwineflu · 08/12/2018 20:10

@Doyouthinktheysaurus
I hope so and I hope you do too Smile

itscalledwineflu · 08/12/2018 20:12

@WereYouHareWhenIWasFox
Urgh and believe me when I say I'm the most unattractive I've felt in a long time .

OP posts:
WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 08/12/2018 20:15

There was a whole thread about it a few days ago, apparently it is very common! 😂

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 08/12/2018 20:16

What makes you bad makes you better.

Bloody Mary with loads of tobacco and Worcester sauce.

Job done!

ellephant · 08/12/2018 20:16

Lucozade, sport or fizzy, both work for me. Failing that anything else cold and orange flavoured will do the trick. Berocca?
If you can manage food, crackers with butter and cheddar cheese usually calm my stomach if I'm being sick with hangover. Hope you feel better tomorrow

Nononononono33 · 08/12/2018 20:26

It’s a bit late in the day for a hangover. Are you sure you haven’t picked up a bug/a bout of food poisoning? Either of those would be (obviously) not your fault and you could head to bed early guilt-free, even if you are still feeling off?!

MadeForThis · 08/12/2018 20:26

You need to replace what the alcohol has taken.

Vitamin c
Salt

You need lots of fluids and carbs. And sugar.

Milk thistle tablets are good too.

Mostly - Time.

Sleep
