Crumpets, muffins and waffles.

Which do you like the most and what do you have them with ? My tastes are simple so plain buttered (must be Lurpak) is fine with me for any of them. However, blue Stilton or Shropshire cheese is excellent on buttered muffins with a glass of white wine.

Quality is important. I don't know who makes good waffles but Kingsmill muffins and Co-op 'posh' (sourdough ?) crumpets are my favourites.

One would gain some serious weight with all this rich nosh. Maple syrup, cream cheese, bacon etc.

If one has toasted stale fruitcake, is a slice of cheese on the side still permitted ? I believe this is a Yorkshire thing but probably not exclusively.

Sainsburys cheese and black pepper muffins, good god these alone make it a great time to be alive!

I don't know if I've ever tried it with cheese but can see how that would work so well! I'm a southerners though so wonder if that's why I haven't heard of the cheese thing

Yes yes to fruitcake and cheese!

Cheese seems to go with everything else on this thread so why not fruitcake ? Not sure about currant teacakes though.

Currant tea cakes are best loaded with butter or butter and Philadelphia

Aldi Sourdough crumpets are amazing.

Fortunately, I have some Co-op crumpets in my freezer. They'll be coming out this weekend.

I don't like Christmas cake so I have no experience of which cheese goes best. However, I've seen folk pair CC with plain Stilton, Wensleydale and Cheddar, so perhaps anything goes.

Crumpets with pate. Also love muffins. And anything with dried fruit in - teacake, tea loaf, hot cross buns, cinnamon and raisin muffins with butter.

I cannot bear waffles. But I love dropped scones.
