WTF is this thing on my back?

On Saturday night a really sore lump appeared right on that little bit of my back I can't reach. Felt like a really sore spot, but since then has got bigger and more painful. I can't lie on my back, and anything touching it is agony. It's red and sore all the time and is enormous (relatively speaking of course).

My DD has had a look at it and says there's no head on it so it can't be squeezed.

I'm tempted to go to the minor injuries unit at the local hospital but don't want to waste their time if it is just a spot.

I took a pic of it last night in the bathroom mirror and it's so bloody big that it's got its own shadow! Sad

Any advice?

I am sure there would be many offers of help to accompany you.

ScreamingValenta · 04/12/2018 20:36

Definitely a job for the professionals. I would love to see Dr Pimple Popper deal with this one!

I hope it goes well tomorrow, OP.

Ah man, the surgeons never let you take pictures of it happening.

DoNotTouchTheTree · 04/12/2018 22:40

OH just gave the back boob a little squeeze and some truly vile smelling pus came out of it! How does that happen in a couple of days? Why does it smell so bad? Honestly it smells like something died in there. 🤮
Anyway, it's not as painful as before. Will keep on with the updates if you can bear it.

Be careful poking at it that you don't spread the infection.

heyjude12 · 04/12/2018 23:00

Op we can bear it. Just to support you you understand. And if you need us to see any pictures of it being squeezed we are happy to do so as a virtual handhold as we are so deeply supportive xxx

donajimena · 04/12/2018 23:06

I'd still go tomorrow morning. It may still need attention. I had a beauty like that on my side near my buttock. When I put my fingers either side of it to try and get a better look, pus shot 4ft across the room. I've never had anything like it since. It was glorious.

BlueUggs · 04/12/2018 23:11

It smells like something died because it did?! Pus is the remains of your immune system fighting the infection....it's dead bacteria and dead white blood cells.

dogsaster · 05/12/2018 12:30

I came back for the pictures, where are they? Hope it went well OP

spiderlight · 05/12/2018 12:58

Waheyyy can't get the mental image out of my head lol 😂

DoNotTouchTheTree · 05/12/2018 22:04

I went to the hospital this morning and saw a lovely surgeon who said it's not an abscess, it's a cyst. He said he could remove it under GA, but I'd be there all day. Local anaesthetic doesn't work on cysts apparently, something to do with the pus, but he could put a freeze spray on it and remove it, and it would take 15 mins now. Fine I said. Next thing I know, the freeze spray is on and he's cutting it open. Absolute bloody agony. Not frozen at all, just really cold as he's pressing on my open wound! 😥😩
He said he wouldn't stitch it because it would most likely happen again if he did that, so was just going to leave it open and cover it with a dressing.
Anyway, 10 minutes later I was on my way with a few spare dressings.

I just got DD to change the dressing. I made her promise not to make the vomiting noise but could see her face in the mirror wardrobe, she was 🤢🤮.

It's definitely not sore now unless anything touches it, but it's not a pretty sight.

More tomorrow....if you can bear it x

Did you see the pus?????

DoNotTouchTheTree · 05/12/2018 22:20

I know WTF, I thought he'd be giving it a gentle squeeze under LA, not setting about me with a scalpel and no anaesthetic at all! 🙈
