What Christmas song do you really dislike?

Now the Xmas songs are out in full force, I’m reminded of the ones I totally hate.

Destiny’s Child “Doesn’t It Feel Like Christmas”; so smug and grabby. Shame they need thousands of $ spending on them to enjoy the festive periodHmm

Also, that pervy Love Actually version of Love is All Around, with Bill somebody or other sliming all over the Santa-esque ladies.

That Paul McCartney one, think it's called 'Wonderful Christmas time'. I particularly hate the bit that goes 'Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong.....'. Angry And I know I'll probably get flamed for this,as I know a hell of a lot of people love it,but I don't like 'Fairy tale of New York' by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl. I just don't like his voice.

IggyAce · 02/12/2018 17:43

Driving home for Christmas, probably because I worked for the store that used it for their Xmas advert and heard it over and over on every shift.

RaspberryRipple1963 · 02/12/2018 17:45

Just RTFT,and I'm actually surprised to see that I'm not alone in disliking 'Fairy tale of New York'!

BelindaBellender · 02/12/2018 17:49

I do like FONY, even though it’s aggressive! Also don’t feel the Xmas vibe from Wizzard anymore after reading they filmed the video on a hot summer’s dayGrin

Frosty the snowman, arrrghhh, the local shops play it,it seems to be playing everytime i go shopping

Tequilamockinbird · 02/12/2018 17:56

Little Drummer Boy because of the Moors Murders.

I have to turn the radio over if it comes on Sad

lolaflores · 02/12/2018 18:10

If a sort of amnesty could be called for one christmas, I would really ask for no Shakin Stevens. No Slade. No Fairytale.
Just for one year. The next year you can go totally ham on it, but it would really love not to have that music imposed on me.
Let someone else have a go.
These days it feels like a loop that sucks the will to live out of me.

Justlikedevon · 02/12/2018 18:12

Dislike most of them, but the dreadful Stop the Cavalry dirge is so bloody shit.

ScottChegg · 02/12/2018 18:17

I really hate Little Saint Nick by the Beach Boys.

MeetMeInMontauk · 02/12/2018 18:17

I earnestly wish that Fairytale of New York would go and die in a fire.

EyeDrops · 02/12/2018 18:43

Aaarghhh Christmas Wrapping gives me the rage. I cannot listen to it!! I find it unbearably tuneless, sorry to anyone who likes it...!

Brittanyspears · 02/12/2018 18:44

Live Aid. So patronising

Kemer2018 · 02/12/2018 18:49

Cliff Richard- any song. They dig him up from the crypt every year to squeeze the public for money whilst making our ears bleed.
I wish i was at home for Christmas. Urgh.

Hunlife · 02/12/2018 18:49

Mine is Paul McCartney Wonderful Christmastime. DH hates Driving Home for Christmas because it reminds him of when he had to work in a shop for the Christmas season as a teenager

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/12/2018 18:52

To add a classical note, anything by Bob Chilcott. His music is perfectly nice, but the musical director of the choir I was in had us singing so much Bob Chilcott music, that I can’t bear it any more.

Some choral singers feel the same about John Rutter - it is well-nigh impossible to have a Christmas concert without singing some Rutter - in fact, a precious conductor wanted to do a concert with no Rutter songs at all, and call it “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Rutter”!

AviatorShades · 02/12/2018 18:53

tequilamockinbird me too. I've actually abandoned shopping trolleys in shops to get away from that song.

Sick bastards Angry

duvetfan · 02/12/2018 18:56

I don't mind most of these (even Paul McCartney, who I usually detest). I hate 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus'. It came on the radio today and DS (6) said, 'that's a creepy song, eww why would a mummy kiss santa? That's just yuck.' I have raised him well. Grin

TroysMammy · 02/12/2018 19:00

Every one that has been in the charts and assaults my ears every Christmas. I will walk out of a shop if I hear Slade and Wizzard's annoying songs, I can just about bear the others. I feel so sorry for retail and service staff this time of the year having to listen to that bilge on a loop.

I prefer Away in a Manger.

Rarfy · 02/12/2018 19:02

I hate that one woth no words just a bloody annoying tune sounds like 50 million elves doing a jig. Dun du dur dur dur du dun repeat repeat repeat.
