Party is on the 20 January
Would you give the invitations before the Christmas break or after?!
I can see pros and cons for both!
The earliest we could hand them out is 9th Jan

After. They'll be forgotten about over the holidays.

IamAporcupine · 02/12/2018 16:03

Yes, that was one of the cons of before

Will 10 days be enough though?

Just debating this same thing. Party on the 19th. I think I'll send them out before.

IamAporcupine · 02/12/2018 20:37

Urgh, before @Rockbird?

Before.
Do it now before Christmas really kicks in and people forget about them.
11 days notice is not enough, but you could chase them in the new term.

Rockbird · 02/12/2018 20:49

If you do it now people will put it in their calendars (hopefully!) and then you can chase in the NY if you need to. Especially with mine on a Saturday morning people are likely to be at ballet or whatever so they need notice!

Twinkle1981 · 02/12/2018 21:52

I’m pretty organised so would happily have an invite now. Good luck

IamAporcupine · 06/12/2018 11:18

bumping to get a few more replies Smile

I would send them out before and then a reminder after on the group messenger. I dont know if you do this though.

Puffinhead · 06/12/2018 11:25

I would go with nearer the time. Maybe a week before. In my experience (3 DC) people forget to reply if it’s given out too early - almost put it off because they feel they have plenty of time to respond but then don’t. Get Christmas out of the way first.

Puffinhead · 06/12/2018 11:26

I also haven’t purchased my 2019 yet so it obviously wouldn’t be written down in that! (I know, I have my phone.)

SnuggyBuggy · 06/12/2018 11:27

2nd January I reckon

IamAporcupine · 06/12/2018 11:27

Thanks.
No - don't have a group messenger, but i guess I could send reminders somehow

So would you send them during the last week (but not on the last school day)?

OP posts:
IamAporcupine · 06/12/2018 11:29

sorry that was to @Mumshappy

OP posts:
IamAporcupine · 06/12/2018 11:30

@SnuggyBuggy - the earliest I could give them out after christmas is 9th January

PazRaz10 · 06/12/2018 11:33

I would send them before Christmas - 10 days notice may not be enough for a lot of people. Or if you do school runs, perhaps you could verbally mention it to people you know - like a save the date!

SnuggyBuggy · 06/12/2018 11:33

Ah of course, school holidays. See I would argue December is the wrong side of Christmas but 9th January too late. Send them before and remind people would be a compromise.

Newsername · 06/12/2018 11:37

Our party is on the 13th, so I’m sending them out next week hopefully with a reminder at the start of term.

IamAporcupine · 06/12/2018 11:42

@Newsername - I think I might do the same. Not sure how to do the reminder though

HollyBollyBooBoo · 06/12/2018 11:49

Now, our weekends fill up way in advance so 11 days notice would likely mean a decline from us.

NoraEphronsneck · 06/12/2018 11:51

I wouldn't sweat it. I'm having a party end of next week, I sent out invitations beginning of this week. People are either available or they're not.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 06/12/2018 11:54

I would send a WhatsApp or text to everyone now with the basic details - eg time and place and give the invite after Christmas. I think the other way round is also fine too. Either way I think you will get more people coming if you make contact pre and post Christmas.

iwanttobebetterwithmoney · 06/12/2018 11:55

We've received an invite last week for the 13th :) rsvp sent ✅

Mumshappy · 06/12/2018 12:56

I think id send last week of term.

2isabella2 · 06/12/2018 14:30

I'd prefer them now - my children already have three parties in the diary for the new year!
