UberEats - I may starve

So I’m home alone and thought I would treat myself to a chippy tea. But it’s cold, I’m in my PJ’s and strictly is starting soon.

I ordered from UberEats for the first time and I’m pissed off.

My app has updated to say ‘delivered’ but I have no fish and chips with lashings of gravy (on the side) on my lap.

I phoned the restaurant who did fuck all and I’ve emailed UberEats but no response.

What shall I do for my tea?!

Beans on toast? Or force yourself out to another chippy. You would only need to change your trousers and put a coat on.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/12/2018 19:59

Is your address and everything set up correctly? Mine automatically updated to my cards billing address once...

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/12/2018 20:00

also, if you have Twitter, @ubereats are currently resorting to customer service tweets. You need to tweet them and then DM them with your account details and they'll give you a call.

worknamechanged · 01/12/2018 20:01

Unless there’s a reason why you can’t leave the house id go and get it, then sort it out with Uber when you’ve eaten.

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/12/2018 20:03

Gravy on fish?
Ewww.

Notquiteagandt · 01/12/2018 20:03

Ubereats is a bit shit. Always cold. Always takes ages. And usually something missing.

I ordered ages ago. And the guy kept texting me appologising saying was suoer busy hed be with me soon etc.

So then hour later im like ok where is he so call him and he said he was in an ambulance as he had gotten in a fight over parking and the other guy had set his dog on him and it had bit him badly.

To this day I have no idea if this is the most random excuse for non delivery ever or total bullshit 😂

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 01/12/2018 20:04

No everything’s fine on the account - I literally only joined tonight, as heard the best chippy in town was on it Sad

There is no real reason I cannot leave the house, I just really don’t want to. But alas, I’m waiting for the end of strictly and then I’m putting my big girl pants on.

£15 down as well and no bleeding chips.

Did you get your money back Notquiteagandt?

Also, yes IHaveBrilloHair fish dipped in gravy is my favourite thing!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/12/2018 20:19

Send them a tweet; they'll sort it out Smile

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 01/12/2018 20:22

They just replied on the app, full refund coming my way.

Also, got to the chippy and their cash machine is down Sad

Someone out there is determined to stop me getting my bloody fish and chips AND gross gravy Grin

My uber eats experience was also shit, the restaurant sent the food with the driver the driver never came.

Basically the driver took our food ans buggered off

MrsCurly · 01/12/2018 20:32

You spent £15 on fish, chips and gravy??

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 01/12/2018 20:37

Well I won’t be using them again that’s for sure.

And yes. £15 is about right for chippy round here.

All is now right in the world!

YABU gravy with fish and chips? No! Uber driver has probably keeled over in shock. Gravy and fish. World explodes.b

Notquiteagandt · 01/12/2018 20:42

@WhereHaveTheyGone12 yeah they gave me £20 voucher as well as a refund as an apologie. Tbh I think it is still on my account as never used them again.

christmaschristmaschristmas · 01/12/2018 20:44

Mm. I'm jealous that looks good.

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 01/12/2018 20:56

Ahh now I’m going to have to fight them for a voucher too, Notquiteagandt

Those who are saying fish and gravy is disgusting are so, so wrong. It’s delicious. It was delicious.

£15 for a chippy? For one person?!?!

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 01/12/2018 21:07

Yes, £15 for a chippy for one person!

As I said upthread, it’s standard around here. I don’t see the issue?

DH is on a weekend away, I couldn’t be arsed cooking a sad meal for one, I wanted fish and chips so I got myself some. Why the horror? How much do you think fish and chips are? Especially when delivered?

MarthaArthur · 01/12/2018 21:09

My friend is an uber eats person. He literally is one man on a bike he gives the orders and has to cycle everywhere to deliver them and only gets the address after the order so can be quiet far out the way to get to by bike.

MarthaArthur · 01/12/2018 21:10

Wow £15 for one person jesus that would set me back £3 where i am.

costacoffeecup · 01/12/2018 21:25

I think I've spent around that once from a chippy in Blackheath and I nearly fell over. It is possible, especially with delivery charge, most places will be £6 or £7 for fish and £3 ish for large chips. Although by the mention of gravy I'm assuming op isn't in London or SE as I've never seen gravy in a chippy down here! Philistines prefer curry sauce...

QuestionableMouse · 01/12/2018 21:28

I use just eat which is okay. Had a few crappy experiences with not so nice food but it's generally good.

Dermymc · 01/12/2018 21:28

£15 for a chippy, where do you live?!
