UberEats - I may starve

So I’m home alone and thought I would treat myself to a chippy tea. But it’s cold, I’m in my PJ’s and strictly is starting soon.

I ordered from UberEats for the first time and I’m pissed off.

My app has updated to say ‘delivered’ but I have no fish and chips with lashings of gravy (on the side) on my lap.

I phoned the restaurant who did fuck all and I’ve emailed UberEats but no response.

What shall I do for my tea?!

£15 for one portion of fish and chips is more than double I've ever seen it priced.

It's £5-6 for a portion that will serve 2 people round here.

If anyone tried to charge £15 it would be assumed to be a typo or illicit the response 'how fucking much'.

Bloody hell those saying £3 where you are. Be that just for the gravy around here. And im up north.

Its £8 for fish and chips here then the sauce on top, delivery and a can of pop would be getting close on £15 here too.

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 01/12/2018 21:36

Chips = £3.50
Cod = £6.80
Gravy = £2
Delivery = £2.50
Total = £14.80

I’m in the north west - big city but small town in the city. It’s just how much it is. If it helps the cod was a large cod.

£5 here with curry sauce but I tend to share that with Ds.

I paid £20 for starter and 2 main meal from Chinese tonight including delivery

Dermymc · 01/12/2018 21:44

£6 here in the Midlands

Mrsjohnmurphy · 01/12/2018 21:44

Blimey I'll stop complaining about the price of takeaway now. £6.80 for fish Shock. Might even be a bigger shock than realising rice was not included with main dishes in Chinese takeaways down south.

I chuntered on about having to pay £3 for rice the whole 10 years I lived down south. Grin

mouse

What are "smokies"?

QuestionableMouse · 02/12/2018 02:02

Some sort of sausage. I'm not a Sunderland native and haven't tried them!

I had a similar shock the time we were charged £2 per person for the poppadoms and pickle tray that comes whether you order it or not in a small town Indian restaurant in the south of England.

In my considerable experience of northern city Indians, this has always been free. there was a group of us and we couldn't work out how the bill was so high.

Chinese is a fiver including rice here, even now (unless king prawns). It would seem that it's not just houses that are more expensive in the south.
