Obviously it’s all down to personal taste but some things are just wrong...

Mushy peas fgs, noooooooo

What foods would never have a place on your plate?

Cauliflower cheese. I hate cauliflower and cheese sauce has no place near gravy, it reminds me of curdled sick.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 01/12/2018 09:46

I knew my ex and I would never last once he put vinegar on a roast dinner.

PickAChew · 01/12/2018 09:49

Peas, full stop. Peas are can't be arsed to faff midweek food.

Vinegar would be great on a dinner, tbh. Spiced red cabbage is usually vinegary and a lamb roast often has mint sauce, which is vinegar based.

Amyerda · 01/12/2018 09:50

Beetroot! Always have cauliflower cheese Smile

Mainchanger · 01/12/2018 09:50

Yorkshire puddings. Controversial I know 😉

PurpleDaisies · 01/12/2018 09:51

Cauliflower cheese. Gravy and cheese sauce together is just wrong.

TheProvincialLady · 01/12/2018 09:51

I love cauliflower cheese but it is a midweek main dish (vegetarians here) not a side dish for Christmas dinner. Cheese sauce and gravy together.....vom.

Orangedaisy · 01/12/2018 09:52

Agree Yorkshire puddings with turkey are wrong. Fine if you have beef though.

borntobequiet · 01/12/2018 09:52

Tinned tomatoes.

MysweetAudrina · 01/12/2018 09:53

I always do cauliflower cheese it goes well with the ham. In Ireland Turkey and ham are the traditional meats to serve for Christmas dinner. Slice of ham, stuffing and slice of Turkey on top and gravy over it.

I have never served red cabbage before but am going to try it this year as it seems to be a staple on mn.

I guess ketchup would be a no no as a condiment for your Christmas dinner. I can't imagine being impressed if someone at my table doused their lovingly prepared dinner in ketchup.

OldBrownShoe · 01/12/2018 09:53

Turkey. None of us particularly enjoy it. Cba to cook one just because you’re supposed to.
We have beef or pork belly instead

AdaColeman · 01/12/2018 09:54

Yorkshire pudding, unless you’re having roast beef.

Sweetcorn.

Elledouble · 01/12/2018 09:54

My ex’s family had Yorkshire puddings and mint sauce with their Christmas turkey. I judged.

TheSerenDipitY · 01/12/2018 09:56

brussell sprouts

ChocolateTearDrops · 01/12/2018 09:56

DD's friend has mayonnaise as a condiment with any roast dinner.

She has some deliciously bonkers friends. Grin

Atetoomanyjaffacakes · 01/12/2018 09:57

I never understand why people put tinned sweetcorn on their roast, in fact any tinned veg.

MysweetAudrina · 01/12/2018 09:57

Rice seems to be popular in some countries with Christmas dinner but I don't think it has any place with mine. Also sweetcorn, peas, or boiled potatoes. The nicest part of the dinner has to be the roasties.

umizoomi · 01/12/2018 10:05

Yorkshire puddings go with every roast dinner. Need mucky pudding on a Christmas dinner though Smile

Cauliflower cheese and any potato that's not roasted has no place on a Christmas dinner

Lumpy76 · 01/12/2018 10:12

My DH’s family always had mushy peas, mashed potato, mashed carrot & swede (called turnip) & Yorkshire pudding (they were/are in Yorkshire). He genuinely couldn’t understand when I explained that many of those items weren’t really traditional...

TillyVonMilly · 01/12/2018 10:17

No gravy with cauliflower cheese Shock
What is wrong with you people??
I mash leftovers cauliflower cheese with mashed potatoes, put a bit of grated cheese on top, warm it up and have that with leftover gravy, food of the gods Grin

Ispatienceavirtue · 01/12/2018 10:18

Ha! Won't be inviting any of you for Christmas dinner, you would all be disgusted!
Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes
( as well as roasted, obviously ) cauliflower cheese, peas and sweetcorn served with every roast dinner regardless of meat or occasion.

Ifailed · 01/12/2018 10:19

spaghetti hoops don't go well with a roast.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 01/12/2018 10:23

Surely the reason you do peas is because they’re zero effort, and most children and picky adults who refuse all other vegetables will eat them.
I agree that sweet corn has no place on a Christmas dinner though.

IstanbulConstan · 01/12/2018 10:26

I agree with tinned tomatoes, mushy peas and sweetcorn being wrong.

MaidenMotherCrone · 01/12/2018 10:29

No peas of any variety.
No sweet corn
No potatoes other than roasted.
Quite a few strange people on another thread listed roast, mashed and croquettes.
Noooooo
