Cos I'm all out of ideas....

OP posts:
Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 01/12/2018 15:26

Probably some manners

Parky04 · 01/12/2018 15:28

Absolutely nothing. We don't do presents. It takes all the stress out of it.

CuppaSarah · 01/12/2018 15:30

I'm putting together a winter warming kit for when fil is abroad. Got fluffy socks, a mug, some fancy Christmas coffees, nail varnish, nice shower gel, flavoured gin and I'll put something else in too.

MsSquiz · 01/12/2018 15:36

We've got her a pair of Toms slippers and a L'Occitane gift set (trio of items)

We have also bought her a personalised tin of Quality Street with her favourites inside (mainly because I wanted one and DH knew she'd want one when she sees mine!)

EnidButton · 01/12/2018 15:38

Oh Armchair that's...special. What did you do with it? Honestly?

MrsMotherHen · 01/12/2018 15:49

weve got her
Dressing gown and slippers
fruity cider gift set
200ml bottle of just pink
fancy chocs
photo calender from kids

littlemeitslyn · 01/12/2018 15:54

What the hell ?? Armchair??

Bunnymumma · 01/12/2018 15:58

@Armchairanarchist fuuuuuuuuuck. That is one of the worst gifts I've ever seen!

moolady1977 · 01/12/2018 16:17

Wow I love the crab not being sarky just love crabs,
My mil will be getting a box of biscuits and a box of chocolates no clue as to what else to get her

Mulberry72 · 01/12/2018 16:25

Whatever she gets bought she fucking complains about, so I no longer make any effort with her gift.

She just gets a Boots smelly gift set (whatever’s on 3 for 2) and a box of chocolates off DS.

She probably regifts them anyway.....

ChoudeBruxelles · 01/12/2018 16:26

Theatre vouchers

ToEarlyForDecorations · 01/12/2018 16:37

I've got her a couple of cd's. Last year was Ball and Boe. This year it's a Michael Buble cd. Also a cd from the bloke that sang the song, 'Just haven't met you yet.' It's a whole different cd of him singing other songs.

She's registered blind & she's not got much of her hearing left, bless her. (So why inflict those two on her ? My mother in law, my privilege !)

To the pp who's MIL is getting an engraved bottle of Jo Malone perfume - blimey !

The other pp who received the The glass crab ornament ? To me is almost so bad it's good !

minisoksmakehardwork · 01/12/2018 16:52

Food processor!! (Dh's idea). Usually it's stuff like books by her favourite authors and stuff.

Gazelda · 01/12/2018 17:19

She insists she doesn't want anything. She has no hobbies or interests. She has more jumpers than M&S. She doesn't wear perfume, burn candles, read books. Nothing.
So we're going to decorate her lounge for her. I'm 100% certain she'll be thrilled to bits. She's too frail to do it herself, can't afford to get someone in to do it.

Armchairanarchist · 01/12/2018 20:23

@EnidButton It's still in the box! I've a running joke going with my son's partner that it's now a family heirloom and I'm gifting it to her.

IShitChristmasGlitter · 01/12/2018 20:26

oh armchair you so have to do that!!!!

Hailthelime · 01/12/2018 20:32

Dh will buy them both a voucher. How imaginative. They also get vouchers for their birthdays Confused

Stephisaur · 01/12/2018 20:35

She loves peter rabbit, so we’ve bought her a peter rabbit gift set from biscuiteers. Hopefully she likes it :)

We also got her a cuddly reindeer.

PerverseConverse · 01/12/2018 20:44

A shroud.

Well my divorce has just come through so she's no longer my MIL but if she was I'd be tempted.

Juanbablo · 01/12/2018 20:50

Probably a big Yankee candle, I know she would like that. And a new shop has opened up near us.

EnidButton · 02/12/2018 00:51

Armchair Grin

EnidButton · 02/12/2018 00:53

ooh or you could get it a little Santa hat and get it out every Christmas. Embrace the festive crab!

Longhairmightcare · 02/12/2018 01:00

A magitone face brush set, some white stuff slippers and Michelle Obama's autobiography.

I wish I could get her more, she does such a lot for us and is always telling me that we're 'powerful women' (hence the autobiography)

cricketmum84 · 02/12/2018 01:00

Fuck all. I have spent 11 years trying to please the miserable old bitch and there are 11 years worth of carefully thought out Xmas gifts on her wall unit that have never been used.

DH can sort his own mother out this year!

Sorry that made me all ranty!

Cuzcothellama · 02/12/2018 01:22

MIL wants a Debenhams vouchers, so we're getting her one of those. Plus I'm making a cake for MIL and FIL to share.
