Cos I'm all out of ideas....

Perfume. There’s an eye-wateringly strong American one that she’s worn since the 80s so I managed to get her a bottle of that when I was in the US a few months ago.

Angrybird345 · 01/12/2018 06:48

Cyanide?!

TowerRingInferno · 01/12/2018 06:49

LOts for treats for her dogs. There is nothing at all she wants or needs for herself.

Ilovewheelychairs · 01/12/2018 06:52

Buying her and FIL joint National Trust membership. They'll be thrilled with that! We're also making the effort to drive 200 miles to spend Christmas Day with them which they probably appreciate more!

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 01/12/2018 06:55

Jo Malone candle

blackcat86 · 01/12/2018 06:58

DKNY perfume (it was on special offer at Superdrug 😁) and a bauble with one of DDs tiny baby onesies and foot tag.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/12/2018 07:02

Will leave it to DS and DH to sort, but there will be Turkish Delight.

Previously we did buy a scarf in the National trust shop which I thought was nice, but who knows what she would have thought.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 01/12/2018 07:03

A big fleece lined hoodie so she can be warm but feel dressed. A matching pair of Marino wool slippers (she has diabetes so has to take care of her feet) probably a hamper of treats too. I have got the same for my mum!

AnarchyKitty · 01/12/2018 07:05

An eyewatering expensive new roof for her house which we cannot afford.

MinecraftHolmes · 01/12/2018 07:07

No7 Protect and Perfect stuff she likes in a travel size set - she likes having miniatures for when she goes on holiday.
A scarf.
Her favourite sweeties.

SnuggyBuggy · 01/12/2018 07:08

We got lucky this year as she asked for a DVD

CakeNinja · 01/12/2018 07:09

Tate membership
Some books
Photo calendar of kids
Her favourite L’Occitane shower gel and body lotion.

Lumisade · 01/12/2018 07:09

Seems unusual looking at everyone else's answers but.... a bee identification chart.

Surfskatefamily · 01/12/2018 07:10

A nice box with goodies inside. Jewellery, smellies etc

treaclesoda · 01/12/2018 07:15

I've no idea, my husband sorts it out.

But in previous years it has often been something like a jumper and a necklace and some posh handcream. Or a voucher for a restaurant or hotel as a joint present with FIL (although obviously that's not going to work for a widow).

cushioncuddle · 01/12/2018 07:15

An ancestry DNA kit. Got it when they had an offer on.
Silicone oven gloves

AuditAngel · 01/12/2018 07:24

A Fancy thermal vest from M&S. she loves the one i bought last year.

DinosApple · 01/12/2018 07:26

So far I've bought her a revolving snow
man biscuit tin, a glitter photo frame - picture of kids still to go in, and some cheesy biscuits.

DH will get her some sort of bracelet and we'll wrap them, stuff them in her stocking and take them up to the care home on Christmas morning.

She had a stroke 5 years ago this Christmas Eve and is bedbound, with little speech, but she'll be as excited as the DC. She's marvelous.

FrangipaniBlue · 01/12/2018 07:43

We've all clubbed together and bought PIL afternoon tea for two on the Northern Belle

Girlsworld92 · 01/12/2018 08:19

Professional photo of the kids as she's always saying she hasn't got any up to date ones. Jo Malone bits.

Howtodeal · 01/12/2018 08:25

Nothing. I have 2 MILs and I leave it totally up to DH what/if he gets them anything!

lightlypoached · 01/12/2018 08:38

a voucher for posh stately home afternoon tea.

Tailrunner · 01/12/2018 08:44

A photo calendar with lots of pics of her dc and dgc. I made one years ago and now she asks me to do one every year which makes things easy. It seems boring to get the same thing every year but she doesn't like surprises (and has a good moan about most of her gifts). I'll get some chocolates too.

Ffsnosexallowed · 01/12/2018 08:46

A thing for the bath to hold her book (she'd happily spend days in the bath), a book, and some nice bath bubbles.

LunaLovegoodsRadishes · 01/12/2018 08:46

Step-mum in law has had a rough year. She bereaved for her dad, and her family are being horrid to her. She has major hip surgery coming up so we had a look on Amazon and bought her a Kindle fire 16gb 7 inch for £40 in the sale. Then she can play games and read loads of books during her recovery. Oh, and soft slippers too.
