Is it weird to vacuum my bathroom?

Just that really - friend just popped over whilst I was giving the bathroom a quick spruce and thought it was hilarious - is it?!

My parents, siblings, grandparents etc all do so aside from asking other friends (who I think will give me the Hmm face because after all, it doesn’t really matter), I just thought I’d ask!

Do you have a carpet down? Confused

6demandingchildren · 29/11/2018 13:59

I vacuum mine as it's a tiled floor so it gets the dust up before I mop.

HeyMacWey · 29/11/2018 13:59

I vacuumed the bathroom this morning. It's a wooden floor, but gets really dusty. So vacuum first, then mop.

CakeBeTheFoodOfLove · 29/11/2018 14:00

I vacuum mine too Hmm What else do people do with it?!

LanceStatersGold · 29/11/2018 14:00

No, no carpet. I do like PP and get all the dust /fluff / hair etc up before I mop.

No it's not weird. What else are you supposed to use for the dust and hair and stuff, a broom?

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 29/11/2018 14:00

I vacuum before I mop.

LanceStatersGold · 29/11/2018 14:00

My friend says she just mops.

Vacuum then mop, otherwise you're just moving the dust and hair that inevitably gets all over the floor around.

SylviaAndSidney · 29/11/2018 14:01

Yeah I thought it was Confused having a carpet in the bathroom! I too vacuum my tiled bathroom floor before mopping it.

KatharinaRosalie · 29/11/2018 14:02

I vacuum all the floors before I mop - no carpets whatsoever. Otherwise you just move the dust around with the mop.

chemenger · 29/11/2018 14:02

I too vacuum before mopping. Otherwise the steam mop just moves the dust around.

oldsewandsew · 29/11/2018 14:02

I don’t think it’s weird. I have tiles, and vacuumed mine this morning. I didn’t have time to mop, but it looks better for getting rid of the dust, and I can’t be bothered with sweeping.

Skatersbeskating · 29/11/2018 14:02

God yes. Needs be. All the fluff and dust gets caught in the corners and only a hoover will suck that out.

Your friend is no friend of mine Grin

I ldo my kitchen hard floor, so a loo & bathroom is the same surely?

LanceStatersGold · 29/11/2018 14:02

That’s what I thought and I wasn’t
planning on not doing it. She just seemed totally bamboozled as if I was adding in an unnecessary task.

I sometimes hoover the cistern top and edge of the bath as well as the floor.

Stereomum · 29/11/2018 14:03

Always vacuum then mop.

DryHeave · 29/11/2018 14:04

Another vac-n-mop advocate here.

LanceStatersGold · 29/11/2018 14:05

Thank goodness. Like I say, I know it’s not a big deal but I thought it was going to be another of those weird quirks I think are completely normal!

OP posts:
Ohyesiam · 29/11/2018 14:06

I sweep then mop, but if I could be arsed to get the hoover in there, I’d do that.

bringbackthestripes · 29/11/2018 14:08

Not weird. I hoover first.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 29/11/2018 14:09

I vacuum all of my floors. The hard ones need vacuuming before mopping. Otherwise, as PP’s have said, the mop gets gummed up with bits, crumbs, hair, fluff, dust, etc. Vile.

MiddlingMum · 29/11/2018 14:10

Ours gets done about twice a week. Hoovered, then cleaned with a cloth & Stardrops.

witchy89 · 29/11/2018 14:21

Huh? How else would you remove all the dust, hair etc? I HATE mopping a floor that hasn't been swept or vacuumed properly, all the dust goes all gross and sticks to everything!

DeadCertain · 29/11/2018 14:28

I always vacuum before mopping, think it's much stranger not to!
