Working from home watching tv

What the hell does she see in that Berger, I mean she's no picnic but he's awful. I've known men just like him.

The best man any of them had was Charlottes Harry...I'd have totally married him!

PeevedOfPortishead · 27/11/2018 15:48

Yep. Harry was the best without a doubt.

witchhazelblue · 27/11/2018 15:50

I always wondered why Harry got divorced (obviously before he met Charlotte). He seemed so lovely why wouldn't you want him!

Was probably married to someone like Carrie who went "ewwww" when his hair fell out.

witchhazelblue · 27/11/2018 15:53

Harry has the best line in the series too:
'Greetings from silicon valley!' 😂

formerbabe · 27/11/2018 15:53

Rewatching it, I thought Carrie seemed so much more unlikable than I remembered, especially the scene where Miranda has just had a baby and is trying to feed him and Carrie is sitting there talking about herself.

Fabpinky · 27/11/2018 16:17

MaiaRindell - that’s true!

Every time I re watch the series I have a different favourite girl. I wonder if it’s to do with what’s going on in my life at that time.

LucilleBluth · 27/11/2018 17:21

It's amazing isn't it, I thought Carrie was amazing but 20 years later I can see what an awful person she is.

I put it down to being young and stupid.

All of Carrie’s boyfriends were pricks. So was she, actually.

I used to watch SATC obsessively and still have all the DVDs, but I now find it unbearably irritating.

toomuchtooold · 27/11/2018 17:33

the scene where Miranda has just had a baby and is trying to feed him and Carrie is sitting there talking about herself

Oh god, I hated that scene! And then just as she gets him latched on and is free to talk, Carrie fucks off. And she's like "don't go" and Carrie just tilts her head and goes "you're a mother", like she believed that was a decent explanation for why she was fucking off ten minutes after arriving.

(Yeah, I watched them all more than once Blush)

Thisnamechanger · 27/11/2018 17:38

Side note....how was Carrie SO thin? She never did any exercise and ate out all the time!

goingonabearhunt1 · 27/11/2018 17:39

I agree with PP; Harry is the best. He's such a kind funny husband; with him it'd be 'cocktail hour' every night Grin When I was younger, I always thought Aiden was the best but now I can see he's all wrong for Carrie; Big is selfish like her so they belong together (also their chemistry is great). I like Big, I think he's funny and charming; maybe not husband material but he'd be great for a night on the town! Aiden just wanted to stay home with his bucket of chicken and visit his boring cabin.

goingonabearhunt1 · 27/11/2018 17:40

True thisname and how did she afford all that food out? She never cooks (uses her oven for storage).

mycatplotsdeath · 27/11/2018 17:41

I loved Harry !

Out of all the female characters I liked Samantha the best.
Carrie was just a bitch
Miranda was to selfish
Charlotte was always waiting for a man to rescue her.

EdWinchester · 27/11/2018 17:46

I have been watching re-runs on a Monday night. We’re currently at the point where she’s about to go to Paris with the creepy Russian.

I have pondered about how awful all of them are, apart from Miranda who’s the least awful.

Harry is fab but why would he go for such a pathetic weed like Charlotte?

I’m sure I used to love Carrie’s style, but her clothes just look daft now. And all that bra wearing in bed, with massive baggy knickers.

She did have gorgeous hair though.

cathyandclare · 27/11/2018 17:51

I've been watching it again from the beginning and still loving it. Agree that Berger is awful, not keen on Aiden, like Big much more this time.

That breast-feeding scene was awful, but I like Carrie ( or do I like her hair and clothes?) Agree the best men are Steve, Smith and Harry ( and Big).

cathyandclare · 27/11/2018 17:52

She's big on prom dresses at the moment ( early season 6). I didn't like the dresses over trousers phase.

JaneJeffer · 27/11/2018 17:56

I'm sorry
I can't
Don't hate me

JaneJeffer · 27/11/2018 17:58

I hated Aiden. Control freak.

Honeyroar · 27/11/2018 18:02

What was so good about Mr Big? He always knew he could play her, messed her ab, wouldn't commit properly then married someone else. Then he cheated on his wife with Carrie, finally got serious then dumped her at the alter (or library!). Mind you, she was vile, she deserved him.

It's always on tv in the USA. The more I rewatch it the more I dislike the lot of them, yet I loved it in the 90s.

Qwertylovestotype · 27/11/2018 18:08

Love a S&TC thread! I still love watching it even though totally agree that Carrie was awful and never liked Berger.

Loved the post it note episode though! Dooby!

MrsCatE · 27/11/2018 18:09

Oh God, somehow watched this car crash programme whilst hating them all. They were all harping on about being independent women - I think this meant having legs open and accepting all boarders. They were all awful; Carrie "I'm so kookie and fiscally irrisponsible it's adorable and I'm so desperate for a bloke I'll go out with wankers like Berger“.

Cringe factor re Carrie shagging Big in his marital bed and checking out fridge etc. BITCH!!!

They were all desperate to get married apart from Samantha.

Really pissed me off when Charlotte was married to erectile disfunctional husband for 3 minutes, snogged the Gardener and ended up with multi million dollar apartment as settlement and then gifted, as largesse, her engagement ring to Carrie for her deposit after scolding her for not being financially responsible!

Wonderful messages there; yes your Prince will come, after your multiple abortions, his multiple marriages and the fact that you're bankrupt because you have 300 pairs of shoes costing average of £300.

Bleurghh.

Hunlife · 27/11/2018 18:27

Am I wrong to have hated how everyone pronounced Berger as (cheese)burger? I’ve always been lead to believe it’s pronounced Berjer Confused

cathyandclare · 27/11/2018 18:32

I think it's a name of German origin, so pronounced like (ham) burger, although if it was French you'd be right!

JustWhatINeededNow · 27/11/2018 18:32

Agree it's so bloody dated now.

And yes to associating scrunchies with Berger!

They're all dysfunctional and unreliable - especially Carrie.

I did warm more to Miranda once she had the baby and moved to Brooklyn and took in Steve's mother.

Also the working mother guilt - she played it really well.
