The Truth about menopause

Anyone watching?

OP posts:
PhannyMcNee · 26/11/2018 21:10

I am. I’m 45 and think I’m starting to get symptoms.

AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 21:11

Just starting to watch from the beginning

DomesticAnarchist · 26/11/2018 21:11

JM's experiences are a bit worrying...

I was hoping this was going to be somewhat of a manual. What to expect when you're... at no risk of expecting??!

I'm watching too. Just turned 48 and starting to notice changes...

mycatplotsdeath · 26/11/2018 21:14

I had early menopause.
Started at 36 , I'm now 46 .

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 21:14

Anxiety and crashing insomnia. That's me.

mycatplotsdeath · 26/11/2018 21:15

Hot flushes are a absolutel killer

OP posts:
DomesticAnarchist · 26/11/2018 21:15

Oh god. Insomnia? So I'm going to get maybe a 5 year window of actually sleeping if my kids start sleeping soon?

Anasnake · 26/11/2018 21:18

I'm mid 40's and starting with the mood changes, sleeplessness etc. Take the pop though so haven't had a period in years.

Athena51 · 26/11/2018 21:26

Watching. I'm 51 and although my periods are very irregular now I haven't noticed any other symptoms such as hot flushes or insomnia. I get tired a bit more easily but that could just be having a busy job and getting older.

I don't know if that joy is still to come or whether I'm going to be lucky. None of the women in my family (mum and 2 older sisters) had much of an issue so fingers crossed.

mycatplotsdeath · 26/11/2018 21:29

I'm tempted to try the diet aspects of the program

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 21:31

I should cut down on the wine

CrispbuttyNo1 · 26/11/2018 21:40

Hot flushes and waking up numerous times in the night for me. Otherwise no other problems.

MrsChollySawcutt · 26/11/2018 21:43

Possibly self-medicating with a family bag of Galaxy Minstrels is not helping me.

gobbin · 26/11/2018 21:43

Bit disingenuous leaving people hanging with JM’s cancer / obesity / drinking / HRT without mentioning that she was a heavy smoker for years.

I was through and finished by 47 and didn’t take HRT but I hope this programme doesn’t put anyone off seeking help by it.

mycatplotsdeath · 26/11/2018 21:46

I also didn't bother with HRT but it was just personal choice not because of anything else

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 21:49

We can't have a programme about women without fucking men getting in on the action Angry

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/11/2018 21:49

I'm watching. I'm only mid 30s but I am convinced I've got some perimenopause symptoms. I'm considering talking to the doctor about it. This programme is just reinforcing what I already think.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/11/2018 21:50

I am also a bit fucked off that men have gegged in on it.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/11/2018 21:55

Is it worth a watch? BBC1 Scotland isn't showing it til 10.30pm tonight.

DomesticAnarchist · 26/11/2018 22:01

Just at the'Male menopause' section. I'm pretty sure MF has her sarcastic face on. "Just like ageing?!"

Ah, there you go, it's probably not a real thing and even if it is it's not in the same universe as actual menopause.

AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 22:11

I didn't learn anything I didn't know and the significant segment on "male" menopsuse and Mariella's ridiculously frou frou (personal?) gynacologist just pissed me off, tbh

But then I am peri menoausal and grumpy Smile

mycatplotsdeath · 26/11/2018 22:16

I learnt that if you are me you don't get a mammogram, gynaecologist or annual bone density scan

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 22:17

I get the mammograms

mycatplotsdeath · 26/11/2018 22:18

I need a new doctor
