Child never given a snack

DS2 goes to basketball club after school. The letter for clubs clearly states that children should bring a healthy snack to eat beforehand. DS2 has heard this boy ask his mum for a snack and she says he doesn't need one. Twice now he's been crying because he was hungry and DS2 has given him half his snack. I don't want to give DS2 extra because I can't afford to feed an extra child every week.

Should I mention it to the mum or the school?

Rebel DS2 tells me that his friend has always been hungry before basketball club. As school won't give him a bigger lunch, the only way to tackle this would be for his parents to give him a snack. People have asked about his weight. He looks average weight.

Book I do see the sizes of school dinners, I've eaten one, and I've collected both my younger DC over lunchtime and had to walk through the lunch hall several times.

Nobody said anything about anyone giving anyone fruit.

They don't get changed. Their PE teacher collects them from the playground and they either walk through the gate to the basketball court or back inside and up 2 flights of stairs to the gym hall, depending on the weather. You're talking 10 minutes at most. The snack is usually eaten whilst waiting for the teacher.

OP you sound obsessive. It's a 45 minute club a couple of hours after lunch time. What on earth makes you think this child isn't being fed as soon as they leave anyway?

I asked a simple question, it's been answered, it's sorted for me, thanks.

Dear god it's a 45 min club and there's suggestions of abuse because he hasn't a snack?

Also should is not must. The mother knows her own child. Unless there is some massive backstory I don't see the issue.

Some of the posts on here from the smug parents aren't very nice. I'm sorry they have been piling into you PhilomenaButterfly

Thanks Lonicera.

I feel sorry for the child and actually government statistics prove that it is not the case that we are fat because we are eating more, in fact we ate on average more calories in the 1970's than we do now! It's the type of food we are consuming that is the problem.
