Just that really. Or a more effective natural alternative.

I bought a Sanex 0% roll on from Superdrug which was good, pretty sure it had no aluminium

GummyGoddess · 24/11/2018 12:40

Weleda?

AviatorShades · 24/11/2018 12:53

I've used a deodorant crystal stick for years (not the same one but golly do they last!) Fragrance free, cos I like to put on my scent of choice,hypoallergenic,paraben/PG free, and aluminium free. It's got aloe vera in it.
I buy mine in the US but I've seen them for sale here. They're safe, effective. They're ACE!

I was going to suggest Pit Rock (aluminium free and cruelty free) but it has no scent ........then I looked it up and there are new , scented ones Grin

I will get one today .
I love the PitRock crystal solid one (not the spray though) it worked for my even through the Summer (menopausal and I work in a boiling hot clinic)

I bought a couple of the Schmit (sp) ones but they're a bit messier .

GummyGoddess · 24/11/2018 13:01

I have pit rock, but I'm sure it has a type of aluminium in it. Not sure if you're only avoiding one specific type? Weleda spray doesn't have any and smells really nice.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/11/2018 20:48

I have in my possession a PitRok Gold roll on.

No aluminium chlorohydrate or aluminium zirconium
no parabens ,SLS/SLES, propylene glycol or silicone

nothing listed in ingredients that states aluminium
no tested on animals by or on behalf of pitrok.

smells a bit like baby talc

I like the crystal one though you do need hair free armpits and it needs to go on damp skin. I didn't like the spray , it felt like powder falling off my skin even though there was nothing , maybe just droplets.

I;ll try my new find tomorrow

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 21:00

nuud.

It has transformed my life. I LOVE it, despite being skeptical initially. I use it twice a week, and the tiny tube that I opened over 3 months ago is still going.

It doesn't smell, but it's amazingly effective and has no dodgy ingredients.

(oh, and pay no attention to anyone that recommends neals yard deodorants. I tried, believe me. I'm a big Neals Yard fan. But just don't waste your money)

POPholditdown · 24/11/2018 21:02

Bionsen smells lovely, kind of planty (sorry, the actual word I’m looking for will not come to me!) and best deodorant I’ve ever used.

witchmountain · 24/11/2018 21:04

Those trying to avoid aluminium might be interested in this (although be prepared to be annoyed about some of the claims being made by some of the brands mentioned above): chemicaloftheday.squarespace.com/most-controversial/2010/3/8/exposing-more-truths-about-alum.html

OP I like the sunflower one from Lush because it works and isn’t a pain to use. It doesn’t smell strongly though but I guess you could supplement with body spray or perfume.

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 21:05

Yeah, Bionsen is good too. A huge improvement and much cheaper than Neals Yard.

witchmountain · 24/11/2018 21:08

Elephant Nuud sounds interesting!

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 21:24

I honestly love it. I could get away with using it less, but know I'll forget when I need to apply more, so I just apply it Monday and Thursday.

The tubes are really small - I bought the two pack that has slightly more in it than the single pack (although that might have changed since I bought it), I started using it on 18th August (I wrote the date down) and the first tube is still going. It comes in cardboard packaging and the tubes are made from sugar cane, not plastic, so it's really environmentally friendly.

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 21:24

And no, I don't work for them Grin

WiltedDaffs · 24/11/2018 21:46

The crystal deodorants do contain aluminium. They are solid lumps of either ammonium alum (full name... ammonium aluminium sulfate) or potassium alum (potassium aluminium sulfate).

Arcadia · 24/11/2018 22:11

I use the bionsen solid stick and have done so for years, hard to get hold of I buy few at a time from large boots branches

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 22:19

Arcadia, check your local Tesco if you are having trouble finding it. Mine used to only have the Bionsen roll on, but recently started selling the solid stick and spray too.

mychildrenarebarmy · 24/11/2018 22:25

I love this, personally I get the gentle lavender one naturaldeoco.com/

Arcadia · 24/11/2018 22:41

Thanks Elaina

han01uk · 24/11/2018 22:46

Just using Tisserand Lavender roll on,smells lovely!

witchmountain · 25/11/2018 08:42

I ordered some Elephant.

WiltedDaffs yes, that’s right - the link I posted is about that and why it matters. The Sanex Zero has too. Bionsen doesn’t, it uses other metals instead (zinc, cooper and manganese), and the Nuud one uses silver.

DoodleLab · 25/11/2018 10:02

Bicarb... just apply a pea size amount to each armpit with a damp cloth.

If you decant some into a small glass jar, you can add a few drops of lavender or another favorite essential oil.

I've also liked Lush aromoco and Neals Yard lavender ones in the past. Didn't get on with the crystal ones at all, but other people swear by them, think it depends on your body chemistry.

ElainaElephant · 25/11/2018 12:47

@witchmountain I hope you love it as much as I do!

witchmountain · 25/11/2018 15:01

I’m interested to know what the rock users make of that link. I sent it to my most ardent pitrock using friend after she commented that I was using aluminium free deodorant and I pointed out that I wasn’t because it had alum in it (it was a nuxe one I think) and she didn’t believe me. Afterwards she mainly she seemed to be annoyed that I’d burst her bubble. Then went and bought some sanex.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/11/2018 16:19

What exactly is the issue with aluminium? I heard there's a link (no idea if it is true) to cancer through absorbtion.

I just want a product that keeps me nice smelling , doesn't irritate me and hasn't been animal tested .
