Anyone know anything about rashes?

I will ring 111, they just don't actually know anything and always send you to A&E so I'd prefer to avoid unless I need to get someone to give me an appt at a walk in.

Ds has these two weird rash things on his legs almost opposite each other. Between a 5p and a 10p in size. My kids are all prone to eczema so I'm used to skin weirdness, but I don't think I've ever seen the purple outline before? It's very strange looking, It actually looks like he's drawn around it (he hasn't it). Poor lighting but hopefully you can see it.

I would always get a rash checked out. However I have no experience of that sort of rash so I'm sure others may have suggestions of what it could be

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 23/11/2018 21:14

Although it is probable nothing, I would possibly just got straight to a and e with that type of rash.
I have 3 children and have seen all sorts of rashes over the years, but never one like that.

I wil get it checked out, I'm just hoping to avoid A&E on a Friday night!

babysharkah · 23/11/2018 21:17

Absolutely get checked out but it looks a lot like my detergent allergy when I scratch it. Have you changed anything / new trousers?

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 23/11/2018 21:17

Oh yes, Friday mayhem, do you have a childrens a&e close by?
Give 111 a call. Hope he is ok

babysharkah · 23/11/2018 21:18

Sorry, I assumed the purple outline was where you had drawn around it. That is odd, get it checked.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 23/11/2018 21:18

How is he health wise? Temp, cold, sniffly, grumpy or clingy?

GlitteryFluff · 23/11/2018 21:20

I'd get it checked out too.
In the past when we've called 111 for the children, they've booked us an appointment with the OOH GP, so you may be able to avoid a&e.

socialistmamma · 23/11/2018 21:22

Could it be the start of ringworm? That usually has a ring round it

MyRashyKid · 23/11/2018 21:27

I don't think it's ringworm as with that it's the rash that's ring shaped iyswim. I'll call 111 but they just ask you loads of nonsense from the screen "is your child breathing or "Is your child bleeding from the mouth" Hmm

he was a bit whiny but he is sort of a whiny kid. So no more than normal and he was up a bit late as it's Friday (he's 6)

MyRashyKid · 23/11/2018 21:47

On the phone with 111 now. They made me wake the poor bugger up see if he was easily woken... well, no he is 6 and it's 10 pm and he's exhausted

GlitteryFluff · 23/11/2018 22:16

What did 111 say?

DangerMouse17 · 23/11/2018 22:22

It could be autoimmune or meningococcal I think if it's purple. Get to a&e to check. Better to be safe

babysharkah · 23/11/2018 23:27

Hope all ok op.

HoleyCoMoley · 23/11/2018 23:38

Hope he is okay

ChristmasSprite · 23/11/2018 23:46

What's he been doing today. Looks like he's been on a bike or something and bruise plus irritated on whatever surface his inner (?) thighs have been rubbing on? I was going to say eczema too because of the pimpley bumps on the skin around. Has hebeen wearing shorts and sliding down a bannister and hit the newel post at the bottom!

Hippychick78 · 23/11/2018 23:46

As someone has mentioned meningococcal here's a couple of links that may help. I don't mean to scare you op just providing information as it mentions purple bruising

Hope he's OK xxx

ChristmasSprite · 23/11/2018 23:46

...and I'd it very itchy to possibly have cause the bruising and redness?

ChristmasSprite · 23/11/2018 23:48

Roll a glass over it to check its not anything bacterial like meningitis though too

ThatOneHurt · 23/11/2018 23:49

It's almost as though the rash sections are onto of a bruise.

Have they been itchy?

As long as he is well in himself, I really don't think he needs A&E for a little rash.

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 23/11/2018 23:54

I think that needs checking tonight OP, I’m sorry.

Does it fade under glass?

ThatOneHurt · 23/11/2018 23:56

I think that needs checking tonight OP, I’m sorry.
Why?!

Fettuccinecarbonara · 24/11/2018 00:11

It looks a bit shingle-y; has he had chicken pox? It’s unusual it’s on both legs though.

Is it spreading? Another possibility could be scabies. The blue like isbpeculiar though.

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 24/11/2018 00:17

Because of the purple bruising type shadow around it.
