I didn't even get an interview when I applied for a postperson job yet they will employ someone who pisses on gateposts?! I mean... I doubt that's an interview question but still.

why the half quote? The point of that post was about how random it would be to get out and go and lean against someone's post to send a text right after having just got in your car. NOT that they do or condone texting while driving, obviously!

No it wasn't. And she didn't say lean against anyway. He got out of his van and just happened to be near her gate post.
She said he was 'looking at it', maybe he was just looking down at his phone and that was the best light/shade.

I don't think you can complain as you don't know that's what he was doing. You 'think' but it's not a nice thing to accuse someone of doing if you don't know for sure.

This thread highlights the Decline of the Outside Loo.
Our postie told us that new houses rarely have outside loos and modernised houses often do away with them. On his large rural round, only 2 houses had outside loos, ours and one other.
He asked if it was OK to use out outside loo from time to time. We said yes, of course. He said that his female colleague would be very grateful. Sometimes they are absolutely bursting...

A little update on the Possibly Pissing Postie...

Said Postie was spotted today sitting in his van, parked in a layby... talking ON HIS PHONE! The chances that he conscientiously got out of his van right by my gatepost in order to send a text message look much slimmer now...

I do occasionally wonder where posties go if they get caught short. (And refuse collectors/road workers etc - obviously have too much time on my hands!) Possibly easier in a rural location than suburban streets?
