The title basically. Bit chilly at night - is it worth buying?

I have some but haven’t put it on the bed yet-maybe this weekend. I think as long as it’s changed regularly it will be fine.

Urbanbeetler · 23/11/2018 07:08

Oh please let me know how it goes. It’s a big outlay if it’s the wrong thing!

By this you mean furry not with a teddy bear pattern?

I have a bit of a phobia of this stuff. My boss has a teddy bear coat and she smells like a wet dog.

My mother was very strict on bedding 100% cotton and that’s it. Have to say I agree with her

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 23/11/2018 07:12

i'd maybe have a throw, but not the bedding. I have horrific memories of nylon sheets as a child...hitchy toenails, the slimy slidyness, the static!

I firmly place the blame for my iffy electrical aura right at the feet of my mother and those bloody nylon sheets!
I can barely get out of any car without sparking, same with shopping trolleys, and the poor children when they were in pushchairs. They were always getting a zap from me!

So not for me!

Urbanbeetler · 23/11/2018 07:13

My worries exactly.

Yes - fleece bedding, not teddy bear print!

Gilly my grandmother used to have flannelette sheets, candy stripe and some flowery ones, I used to LOVE going there.

Windgate · 23/11/2018 07:14

So sleeping in and on 100% polyester fleece? Hot, sweaty and environmentally unfriendly .

JellySlice · 23/11/2018 08:02

Synthetic bedding - urgh 🤢

Instead, add a thick quilt under your sheet. Makes a huge difference.

Also get a couple of microwaveable hotties, put one at your feet and one half-way up the bed to warm it before you get in.

Or get an electric underblanket.

But never, ever, ever synthetic bedding.

SerendipityFelix · 23/11/2018 08:05

I have a teddy bear throw and the last few nights have bought it up to bed with me and snuggled under it, under the duvet. Lovely and warm to fall asleep. By the morning it’s generally thrown off and I think it would get too warm/sweaty if it was a bottom sheet or the entire bedding.

Myselfonashelf · 23/11/2018 08:07

It will probably feel nice and soft until it's been washed a couple of times. Then it will go manky and grim the way fleece stuff does after just a few washes.
I'm a cotton bedding girl myself but have an electric blanket.
Teddy bear bedding must be the modern day equivalent if 70s nylon bedding.

AfterSchoolWorry · 23/11/2018 08:08

Horrible.

Sheets should be cold and cotton!

Poppins2016 · 23/11/2018 08:11

I wouldn't, from experience:

I have a fleece lined blanket on my sofa. If I use it when napping, I usually wake up feeling too hot and rather sweaty. It would be really unpleasant for every day use.

Much easier to regulate temperature with cotton/natural fibres.

batshitbetty · 23/11/2018 08:11

I would be worried about it being too sweaty, but I love our brushes cotton set - warm, cosy but not too hot!

Namechanger55555 · 23/11/2018 08:23

I have fleece pjs and they are horrid and sweaty!
Nice and cosy to lounge in, in the evenings/mornings! (Just horrid to sleep in)
So I would presume bedding would be the same.

I have a soft fleecy blanket. That's ok as order on top of the duvet!

CutesyUserName · 23/11/2018 08:39

My DS went a bit overboard when she saw the teddy bear bedding and bought sheets, duvet cover and pillowcases. Within a week, she had ditched the sheet and pillowcase as they made her too hot. The duvet cover followed soon after. Now she just uses the blanket on top of her duvet.

tompointer · 23/11/2018 08:44

My DD has just spent £97 on Next teddy bear bedding and she loves it.
She went for the pattered one because it was softer and didn't look so matted.

isdhjustlazy · 23/11/2018 08:49

I'm going to buck the trend, I have a fleece bed set and I love it.
It only goes on the bed when it's very cold (not considered it yet) and I can't say it makes me too hot or feel sweaty.
Last year I regularly slept with the fleece bedding (fitted sheet and duvet cover) a hot water bottle and a 13.5 tog duvet and was just comfortable.

Pinkyponkcustard · 23/11/2018 09:07

I’d say no - I had to abandon fleece pjs.

We’ve got flannelette sheets which are so snuggly and remind me of my mum who used to put them on my bed in winter when I was a little girl.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 23/11/2018 10:21

Flannette = good

Fleece = a step too fucking far.

HTH Grin

SaveKevin · 23/11/2018 10:27

I had it, it didn’t wash well so ended up bobbly and uncomfortable.

I’m a huge fan of brushed cotton and an electric blanket though. None of that ‘brrrrr’ when you get into bed.

Kokeshi123 · 23/11/2018 12:03

You mean bedding that is furry/fleecy feeling?

I stayed at a friend's house recently and she had this sort of bedding. My friend is lovely and I am 100% sure she washed the sheets before I stayed but.... the sheets still smelled of feet/dirty socks. It was unpleasant and I can only assume that the nature of the sheets creates sweaty smells that then linger and are difficult to wash out properly.

I use cotton sheets only and am very particular about this--dirty smelling bedding is really horrid.

UpstartCrow · 23/11/2018 12:05

I dont think it will wash and wear the same as flannel, which is basically indestructible.

IStandWithPosie · 23/11/2018 12:06

You need good quality flannalette bedding. Best invention ever! I can’t get out of bed in the morning, im too cosy.

Herja · 23/11/2018 12:10

My house is freezing. Is this just bedding made from fleece? Where do I get it? I won't be too hot. I am never too hot. At the moment I sleep in flannel pyjamas, socks a thick jumper and a winter quilt with a hot water bottle and I'm bloody cold.
