What can I do for 5 hours in London tomorrow?

I’m at a loose end in London tomorrow from half 12 until half 5 - I’m from up north so don’t get to London very often! Is there anything going on at the minute that anyone would recommend?

What part of London?

Singlenotsingle · 20/11/2018 21:49

The Tate Modern is where we usually head for. Warm and dry, loads to see, restaurants and wine bars. It could easily keep you occupied for a few hours, out of the rain.

I’m getting the train into and out of St Pancras Smile

At Paul’s cathedral get an17 bus from station. Loads of bars etc close by. Cross from cathedral to Tate modern. Or stay on 17 beyond at Paul’s and get off far side of London Bridge and go to borough market and the George just across road - one of the oldest coaching inns in London and mentioned in Chaucer. 17 back to station.

Borough market is fab, and also the V&A. I'm VERY jealous. Enjoy!! :)

The mulberry sample same is on. You need a ticket. Google it or go on chicmi

From St Pancras, I’d walk to the British Museum and have a good look around. Then walk to Covent Garden, grabbing some food en route. Maybe if you’ve got time go and see Cleopatra’s Needle on the Embankment. You can always pick up a Northern Line Tube from Embankment back to Kings Cross if you don’t fancy walking back.

Bodyworlds at Leicester Square. Supposed to be brilliant.

JennyHolzersGhost · 20/11/2018 22:07

Alternatively, go north a couple of stops on the Northern Line to Camden. Walk around the markets and the canal, check out the pubs, maybe walk over to Regents Park to visit the zoo.

The Tate has a Burne Jones Exhibition which I would be making a beeline for!

witchmountain · 20/11/2018 23:33

At the National Portait Gallery, go and see the Photographic Portrait Prize. It’s always excellent.

If your into shopping (or window shopping) keep warm in a big department store like harrods or selfredges.

Davros · 20/11/2018 23:37

St Pancras is a good start, it is an amazing building with lots of shops and restaurants. Then pop to the British Library, maybe the Wellcome Collection, not sure what's on. The Crick nextdoor to the BL now allows the public in and I think has a cafe. Then mill round Kings X or head to Regent's Park

All on your doorstep.
Or get the tube to Oxford Circus, 2-3 stops and have a mooch around John Lewis, Liberty’s etc.
It’s freezing down here so wrap up.

The Anni Albers exhibition at Tate Modern is fantastic. Also Jenny Holzer artist's room. Then stroll along to Borough Market for a bit of lovely food and drink.
