I'm 9 and a half stone, and would like to drop a stone. I've lost a stone in the past year and cant seem to shift anymore.

Does anyone have any advice on how to loose that last bit of weight?

Do you exercise?

headstone · 20/11/2018 20:42

I would love to know this!

jrebec86 · 20/11/2018 20:43

Yes, I do spin classes 2 to 3 times a week. Body combat once a week and yoga once a week. I also did couch to 5k in summer and try and run 5k once a week.

Have you tried intermittent fasting? When I hit a weight loss plateau I started skipping breakfast and that got the scales moving again.

armsandtheman · 20/11/2018 21:10

I use my fitness pal. They give you a target for calories based on your height and desired weight loss and you can account for exercise. You can scan bar codes and log recipes so recording what you eat isn't too onerous. I lost a stone in 6 weeks

halfwitpicker · 20/11/2018 21:11

800 cals a day, low carbing.

PurpleDaisies · 20/11/2018 21:12

How tall are you?

Pinkroseuk · 20/11/2018 21:14

My fitness pal- lost 4kg last week and on track for another 3 this week - way better than slimming world if ur strict with urself

jrebec86 · 20/11/2018 22:50

I'm 5'6 - I cant do anything that requires long periods of not eating because I have low blood pressure. Additionally my lifestyle doesn't agree with extreme low calories. I use my fitness pal and eat 1400 calories a day maximum...

I just dont know if its an age thing, I have one 'cheat' day but on that day I just dont track calories not go completely crazy.

You probably don't have a stone to lose. I am same height and three stone more, and I am reasonably fit and healthy. I can't picture ever being in the nines.

FrankieChips · 20/11/2018 23:11

i Don’t think you should be losing anymore weight. I’m the same height and 11 stone and I look fine. A bit soft in places but I like it!

Strongbeatsskinny · 20/11/2018 23:24

Sounds like you don’t need the excess calories of your cheat day. Your either on a diet or not. I sound hates but if you want to actually push to loose that stone you’ve got to get on with it and not cave in to treats. A full day of eating all you like without tracking calories has become the cause of your plateau.

The odd treat eg a bar of chocolate is fiine as you can. Actually factor it in to that days allowance

VladmirsPoutine · 20/11/2018 23:24

You're 5'6 and 9.5 stone. Are you sure this is not more of a mental than physical issue?

FrogmarchMyBaggyPants · 21/11/2018 00:13

I'm the same height as you and currently 9.5 stone. I am comfortable at 8.5, and suit that weight. I feel and look a bit weighty right now. It was due to a health issue that has now been resolved. Low carbs and no alcohol should help shift it. I can't wait until I'm back to normal (my normal, other people might be comfortable weighing more, but I am not and don't feel healthy at all)

halfwitpicker · 21/11/2018 01:16

Don't have your treat day.

Where have you got that you need to lose a stone from? That puts you right at the bottom of what a healthy weight would be for someone of your height.

jrebec86 · 21/11/2018 10:00

I used to be 8 and a half, and got back to 8.5 after DD1, but haven't been able to since I had DD2.

In terms of the cheat day - I don't eat whatever. I just will go out to eat or have a Sunday roast. I only cheat one meal and don't particularly eat sweet food.

Thanks snowqu33n for the spelling advice. Absolutely invaluable, so kind and thoughtful of you.

I’m 5’6 and weigh 9 1/2 stone too. I can’t seem to get it any lower either. Like you I did used to be 8 1/2 stone but not any more it seems. I’m starting to think this is just what being nearly 40 means.

OTOH I do look slim and athletic. So I do think it’s more a problem of my own self-perception than an actual need to lose weight.

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 21/11/2018 10:08

jeeesus mary this has been an eye opener, i'm 5'6 and I weighed 13st 8 in Jan, I'm now down to 10st 12lb and i thought I was finally looking good! I obvs have another 2st to drop.

PurpleDaisies · 21/11/2018 10:46

I’m sure you are looking good whoisyourdaddy. Your BMI is in the normal range. You don’t have to lose any more if you don’t want to.

These threads pop up fairly often. I don’t think posters here always have a very healthy view of their body.

Woohoo1 · 21/11/2018 10:47

A cheating husband and a divorce did it for me

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 21/11/2018 12:22

its just completely blew my mind? it really starts to give you body dismorphia when people who are 1stone lighter say they have to lose another stone!

makes you think...."i must be a whale then"

FrankieChips · 21/11/2018 13:12

I was 8 stone at 5'7 until my late 30s and have crept up to 11 stone in my 40s. It's just part of being older I think. I don't feel fat, I feel healthy and strong. I don't want to spend my time sweating in the gym and counting calories. I eat sensibly, walk almost everywhere and go swimming and I feel great. I would love to be 8 stone with the same effort but I would also rather be happy and relaxed so...
