Have you ever gone off a celebrity because of something they've done?

I used to really like Ewan McGregor until he had an affair.

Same with Robson Green in the 90s.

I loved Michael Moriarty (still do) but he's become a huge loony and an old soak.

Liked Ant McPartlin before the drink driving and infidelity.

Have you ever liked a celeb and then gone off them because of something they've said or done? Does it just prove that celebs are human like the rest of us?

Tanni Grey-Thompson. My husband met her through something to do with his work on a couple of occasions. He said thatboth times, she was really rude and full of herself yet turned on the charm when the TV cameras were on.

MrsJayy · 19/11/2018 12:51

Ah no that is dissapointing about Tani Grey Thompson

Binglebong · 19/11/2018 12:52

Ray Mears. Met him through work as he was a speaker. Also an arse.

OutPinked · 19/11/2018 12:56

Kevin Spacey was always one of my favourite actors so I was truly gutted about that, still am a bit tbh. I still love his movies but feel a tinge of guilt for it.

Likewise Louis C.K who has always been one of my favourite comedians until the obvious happened.

I had a huge crush on Gareth Gates when he was a big thing back in the day till I read about the Jordan scandal, put me off him.

HeronLanyon · 19/11/2018 12:57

Oh no ray and tani all in one read ! May have to unfollow this thread. Although can believe ray is a bit difficult still always liked him.

TigsytheTiger · 19/11/2018 13:00

Nick Knowles when he pushed in front of me when I was politely waiting to be served at a bar at Ascot Races announcing how do I buy a bottle of champagne round here.

The staff all looked embarrassed for me but none of them pointed out I was in front f him and he ignored my comment of 'charming'

Can you tell it still riles me!!

shartsi · 19/11/2018 13:10

Will Smith until he started pushing his kids onto us

Johnny Depp beating his wife - I loved his Captain Jack character. Now it’s ruined and his last Pirates film was just sad. Obviously that’s completely negligible compared to what his wife and children have been through!

UsedBySomebodyAlready · 19/11/2018 13:25

I've never got over Daniel Bedingfield humiliating Alistair Griffin by bigging up Alex Parks on Fame Academy.
I know I should've moved on by now but whenever I think about it I get the rage!

ABoozedMoose · 19/11/2018 13:27

Tom Kerridge - a few years ago Kerridge and a bunch of other well respected chefs bullied a food blogger who had not enjoyed an (expensive) meal out (Hibiscus I think). It was really aggressive and all the poor sod had done was not simper over the food.

Oh, and this is petty but, he was one of the hosts on that bake off thing for professionals and refused to eat any of the food because of his diet. Fair enough because he'd lost a load of weight but it seems really silly to host a show like that if you're not going to tuck in.

As for the others - yup tax avoidance (Lewis Hamilton etc) and abuse (Depp) will automatically make me lose my love for anyone.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of people who can’t stand Eddie Izzard anymore. I used to ADORE him aged 17-18. Now he seems to think that a penchant for women’s clothing means he has some “Girl DNA”. Fuck off.

Ditto Stephen Fry. Loved him when I was younger but the scales fell from my eyes as I got older and saw him for the misogynist he is. Unfollowed him on Twitter after his umpteenth “I’m leaving!” hissy fit and never looked back.

Loved Martin Freeman in Sherlock but he’s revealed himself to be a right arse.

Not surprised to hear Simon Pegg is unpleasant either. Since he made the move to Hollywood movies/schmoozing with Tom Cruise, he’s got this air of someone who thinks very, VERY highly of himself. And weirdly humourless for a former comedian.

BakedBeans47 · 19/11/2018 13:35

John McCririck I used to think was just a jolly old eccentric until I saw him on big brother.

Nithead · 19/11/2018 13:39

Worked a day with Peter Andre. He was dismissive and uninterested in some children there to meet him until the cameras were rolling. Found the fakeryHmm

Zoella until she tried to claim she wrote her novel and her stinking attitude about it. Still hasn't admitted she didn't write a word and won't put her ghost writers name on the cover. To let her ghost writer take away 3k when it was the fastest selling debut with record sales is just gross. I feel it's the same level as releasing an album then getting huffy when it comes to light it's someone else's voice.

I did not know about Mark Whalberg Shock

longwayoff · 19/11/2018 13:43

Georgia Moffett is known as an actor in her own right, I'm surprised to see her accused of plundering her husbands fame.

Binglebong · 19/11/2018 13:51

Know he's gone now but Bruce Forsyth apparently made contestants cry regularly on The Generation Game. Cannot understand the love for him.

notacooldad · 19/11/2018 13:52

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius
Billy Connolly for the Ken Bigley thing. He died that day as far as I was concerned

I was about to type the same thing!
I enjoyed his comedy before that but that comment changed everything.

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 19/11/2018 13:53

I’d forgotten that DT wasn’t his real name. I agree it’s a bit odd to change the whole family’s name to Tennant in that case. Cf Duncan Jones (seems lovely), Emilio Estevez (seems lovely), Charlie Sheen (does not seem lovely).

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 19/11/2018 13:55

Though on the other hand, if GM was going to appropriate her famous husband’s stage name for career purposes, surely she’d have previously appropriated her famous father’s stage name for career purposes?

longwayoff · 19/11/2018 14:07

Or even her mother's? Both? Both far better known at start of Georgia's career than David Tennant.

Bouchie · 19/11/2018 14:09

I don't get the Tom Hiddleston hate. Is it just over wearing a crap t-shirt? Surely that is just a bit of a fuck you to the Press?

Bimwit · 19/11/2018 14:16

Ugh yes, stephen fry, really really arrogant. Absolutely NO room for the thought he might be wrong on something.

Notreallyhere23 · 19/11/2018 14:19

Wikipedia suggests David Tennant had to legally change his name to Tennant for actors guild rules so it’d be a bit weird if Georgia and their son changed it to his original name. Unless you have issues with any married woman taking their husbands name in which case there are lots of famous examples rather than them to find that fault with.

speakingtruthfully · 19/11/2018 14:20

Used to really like Benedict Allen , a British explorer and anthropologist who wrote travel books and documentaries until I found out he ate his dog on a trip through the amazon
I completely wrote him off after that

Bimwit · 19/11/2018 14:23

Benedict allen has a very poor record on animal welfare - didnt look after his horses in mongolia either apparently.
