I’ve just birthed a fossilised tampon...what do I do?!

Hello.
I’m so embarrassed about this. Have had loads of weird discharge for the past few days and was getting really worried- suddenly this happened. I feel quite well and everything but could I now have an infection or something? It must have been in there for two weeks.

Do I just presume I will now be fine or should I seek official advice (seriously hoping I don’t have to).

Excuse me while I now go and 🤢

A moon cup is a small silicon wine-glass-shaped (cup and stem, anyway,) article which goes in the vagina to collect menstrual blood. It's reusable, so more eco-friendly.

Mooncup is actually a proprietary name; there are various manufacturers of menstrual cups.

Many women swear by them, but as with any other method of sanitary protection, no one thing suits everyone.

Jesus Christ whats wrong with me?! How on earth was Getting the order of my own orifices mixed up Confused

I don't want to feel this ashamed so I'll blame it on the Mandela effect and claim female anatomy has ''changed'' Wink

'Don't wash up inside the vulva'

I should think not!

We have to have lubrication "gunge". Otherwise we wouldn't be able to walk. Or if we did, we'd make a loud squeaking noise.

Embarrassing question time.Blush

I use an applicator to get my tampon up there but sometimes it still doesn't go in far enough so I can feel it. If I try to push it in a bit further it goes sideways. Any advice?

fieryginger · 21/11/2018 11:15

Oooh this happened to me, many moons ago. It was a smell you don't forget. I didn't go to the drs as I felt ok and I was fine.

If you get any signs of feeling unwell - temperature, weird discharge or smell after a good old soak you'd have had after it had come out, seek medical advice.

This is more common than you would think.

CaliHummers · 21/11/2018 12:10

@Furiosa Grin. I did do a double check after you asked. I just had a moment of "but, I am right, aren't I?"

ciderhouserules · 21/11/2018 15:16

Bingle - try using a non-applicator tampon? I never used an applicator tampon as I preferred the ones that 'expand widthways' rather than get longer.
I could feel the tampax when it got 'long' Blush but never could with lil-letts.

We have to have lubrication "gunge".

Not to mention that 'gunge' at ovulation serves the important purpose to harbour and assist sperm to travel into the reproductive tract and do its primary business.

It's normal and healthy.

I had my smear test today and this thread made me paranoid, even though I hadn't used tampons in years (mooncup). LOL. Hopefully nothing nefarious will be found under the microscope but there was definitely nothing up my chuff until she got her instruments in. I did allow two med students to observe and have a look in (the nurse asked). Interesting to us all as she made some points about how the cervix differs in women who've given birth.

I love this thread, still laughing at bellagio's gynae: "this might be why you're not getting pregnant."

I once put two in by mistake - put one in, completely forgot and put another one in a couple of hours later. Was extremely surprised later that evening when I went to change it and both came out together. Now realising I had a lucky escape!

In case anyone hasn't mentioned it - don't wash inside your food, it's self cleaning! Like those new fangled windows.

Well that’s bolloxed my username!

BTW the name Douglas makes me see a dour Scottish guy, so I always envision the Pouch of Douglas to be a bit sporran-y.
