Have you ever bought a completely mad, impractical piece of clothing?

I've bought a glittery velvet minidress Grin Blush Grin

I LOVE it. I have been prancing about the kitchen pretending that I'm in Riverdance.

I don't think I could ever wear it in public but bloody hell I love it.

Pictures, please.
It sounds like something I would love!

Wear it out! If you stuck opaques with it you could get away with it as daywear.

OwThatsGottaHurt · 18/11/2018 10:02

It's lovely!!! Enjoy indoors or out!!!

UterusUterusGhali · 18/11/2018 10:04

That's fine! That looks lovely and warm. I hate being cold just because you're going to a party.

RickOShay · 18/11/2018 10:08

It’s gorgeous!! I bet you look lovely in it. definitely wearable Smile

spaghettipeppers · 18/11/2018 10:15

Oh I could never wear it out, especially if there was a chance that Fairytale of New York could be played Grin

OP, having bought and worn a glittery velvet mini dress, albeit when in my twenties, I’d not say that was mad or impractical! It was a gold glitter flower pattern on black velvet (from BHS!Blush), and I received quite a few compliments on it.

Wear it with pride!

ATowelAndAPotato · 18/11/2018 10:18

Oh that's lovely! I would totally wear that out, in fact, I'm nipping into M&S later to see if they have any instore!

ElleMcFearsome · 18/11/2018 10:42

That dress is lovely.

I bought a pair of the shoes in this link NB: not my blog, and they were horrendously expensive. They are still in their box having been worn, once, for an hour. DH still takes the piss about them...

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 18/11/2018 10:51

Wear it! Engineer a night out if needed.

N0b0dysMot · 18/11/2018 10:54

Ive just bought a velvet top that needs to be dry cleaned. Sigh.

GoldenHoops · 18/11/2018 11:01

A beautiful (in my eyes) velvet jacket in burgundy. It was expensive and brought when I was down in the dumps. I love it but wont wear it out.

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/11/2018 11:04

It's a lovely dress. It really isn't impractical. If it bothers you , you can dress it down with black opaque tights and flat shoes or boots but honestly that dress will be fine.

I wouldn't wear it as an office day dress but it's absolutely fine for going out in the evening to pub or restaurant.

festivellama · 18/11/2018 11:11

No, but I have bought a totally mad and impractical Christmas present for adult dd.

She will love it Grin

girlandboy · 18/11/2018 11:14

A nearly full length Monsoon black beaded evening dress. It was £8 in a charity shop and I love it!

I sometimes get it out of the wardrobe, feel the weight of it (it's quite heavy with the beads) admire it, and then put it back.

I did wear it once to a party, but I'm not sure it even fits anymore. I'll never get rid of it though.

dingdang · 18/11/2018 11:15

I bought a leopard skin jumpsuit which makes me feel very happy but not sure I'll ever be brave enough to wear it out of the house!

spaghettipeppers · 18/11/2018 11:16

No, but I have bought a totally mad and impractical Christmas present for adult dd.

Do tell Grin

I think it just feels impractical because my mum would have refused to buy me it as a teenager Grin It's a very small rebellion!

I have a fondness for hats!

MistyReturns · 18/11/2018 12:50

I can only wear them if I'm spending most of my time seated!!! I do love them though

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/11/2018 12:53

God yes. Vintage stuff mostly. I bought an immaculate blue wool 1960’s shift dress, it’s beautiful. Literally will never wear it because I look like I’m lost on the way to a fancy dress party.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/11/2018 12:56

I have a short red leather kilt, I love it.

nevermorelenore · 18/11/2018 13:09

Ooh I love that dress. Wish they did a knee length version because even with black tights I can’t pull off a short skirt. But if you have the legs for it then do it!

I have a couple of pairs of absolutely batshit Irregular Choice shoes. I can barely walk in them. I’d probably be embarrassed to wear them because they aren’t my style anymore. But I like looking at them in my cupboard and sometimes wearing them round the house

LittleSwede · 18/11/2018 13:17

I once bought a pair of black leather trousers, must be nearly 20 years ago. I wore them out with a skimpy top on a balmy August evening, very sweaty and uncomfortable! Think Ross from Friends Grin

gamerwidow · 18/11/2018 16:15

I have a completely impractical gold minidress that I bought for a hen night I never attended. I might wear it Christmas Day. It’s a bit impractical for doing the turkey but I’ll feel great.
