Have you ever bought a completely mad, impractical piece of clothing?

I've bought a glittery velvet minidress Grin Blush Grin

I LOVE it. I have been prancing about the kitchen pretending that I'm in Riverdance.

I don't think I could ever wear it in public but bloody hell I love it.

That's lovely. I was expecting something worse!

I bought a low cut dress with a lace gap between the skirt and the top part and lacey sleeves. It looks ridiculous and I've only worn it when trying it on every now and then. It was £28. Blush

I spent £40 in TK Maxx on a full length evening skirt. Because of course I go to the sort of thing where you need a full length evening skirt. 🙄 It hangs in my wardrobe and I get it out and try it on sometimes. I have even bought a top to go with it 😂

So many, but notably a cream almost full length woolen Monsoon cardigan, a mere £100.

A pair of glittery gold 4" stiletto heeled boots from Office.
I can just about totter in them and ended up falling over twice at someone's wedding disco.
😳😳😳😳😳
They look great though.

LK Bennett Red silk shoes. I mostly bought them because they were £100 off. (Bought pre-DCs, I have the best of F&F now).
The sole is about the thickness of tissue paper, so not comfortable if you want to walk anywhere and you only have to look at them and they get marked. completely impractical, but they're bloody gorgeous.

OP - that dress is really nice, I'd wear it on Christmas Day and nights out.

ChodeofChodeHall · 18/11/2018 17:47

I spent £600 on a beautiful dress, wore it once, then lost two stone in weight and now it's useless to me.

Stephisaur · 18/11/2018 17:50

I have a wide sleeved top. It is so wide sleeved that I can hardly move my arms in it.

I love it, but it appears I am the only one 😂

PlateOfBiscuits · 18/11/2018 17:53

Love that dress! I might need it...

Glittersaurus · 18/11/2018 18:20

A sequined dinosaur onesie from ASOS, just for around the house. Sadly the tail had to go as it was so uncomfortable to sit on. I love it Grin. My only regret is that it has no pockets.

A wedding dress in a size 10 because it was a tenner down from 180£ ....
Reader, I was married 3 years and a size 16 at this point

Potplant · 18/11/2018 18:34

Justanothrruser - makes perfect sense to me. I once bought a white dress for my beach wedding despite not having a bf at the time or any inclination for a beach wedding. It was a fiver in Top Shop.

And You'd think I lived in the Bahamas with the amount of summer clothes I own.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 18/11/2018 18:37

A sparkly off-the-shoulder jumpsuit by Julien McDonald at Debenhams. It was a sale bargain and I have worn it, but bras are an issue. Everything else about it is great. It fits and it's even comfortable. I feel like a member of a 1970s girl group wearing it.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 18/11/2018 20:31

The Geiger heels are glorious.

MistyReturns · 18/11/2018 20:54

Incy. Yes they are. Can't cross your legs over wearing them as they snag everything. There are a million reasons to not wear them - but they are a thing of beauty. I can't really claim to regret them - I just regret not having more opportunities to wear them.

A pair of secondhand red patent leather Vivienne Westwood shoes with a high irregularly shaped platform heel. I brought them back the next day when I remembered I was a skint mum of two pre-school kids and I worked in a conservatively dressed office environment. The lovely shoes had no place in that life. They were beautiful though.Envy

I bought a gorgeous - insane! - devoré evening kimono thing in a sale. All translucent, heavy with embroidery and sparkle, trimmed with a long swishy fringe.

When am I ever going to wear it?!?! I don't have anything that goes with it. I don't even know what would go with it!

It's been hanging in my wardrobe for so long that it's gone right out of fashion (and not long enough to be retro, yet).

But its goooorgeous. And every so often I stroke it, or take it out and swing it elegantly across my shoulders...

Kernowgal · 18/11/2018 21:54

A leather skirt from Monsoon (in the sale, but still stupidly expensive).

I wore it once to a meal with friends and was so hot I nearly fainted. Never wore it again, eventually sold it on eBay.

I've made a few other poor fashion choices over the years but that was the daftest.
