For me, it’s an emergency vehicles coming through traffic and everyone just moves. I feel a real collective spirit in the moment of a stranger’s crisis and it really chokes me.

You?

Hey NotUmbongo ! I thought this was a supportive space!GrinGrin
I had to buy the ugliest pumpkin at the pumpkin farm for Halloween. I couldn't bear the thought of it not fulfilling it's destiny. I'm embarrassingly empathetic.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/11/2018 17:35

That’s the cutest thing Grin

I was just imaging someone cradling a reduced chicken and sobbing.

Actually that could well be my husband when he goes food shopping.

Thunderpunt · 17/11/2018 17:36

The Last Post

WontonSoupForTheSoul · 17/11/2018 17:39

I came on to say fireworks too. I always get teary and don’t know why. I think it’s the anticipation as you wait for the bang. It’s sensory overload.

Also, people being nice to strangers. On my walk to work recently, I saw our postman stop to help two tourists who had a map but looked a bit confused.

Old people walking old dog slowly.

soundsgreektome · 17/11/2018 17:39

Yep, Last Post here too.
And people winning races.

cantfindname · 17/11/2018 17:42

Elgar's Nimrod. Finishes me every single time.

Bezalelle · 17/11/2018 17:48

Working animals like guide dogs and sniffer dogs. So obedient and dutiful. They break my heart a bit.

coolcrispwinter · 17/11/2018 17:48

The video to 'Photograph' by Ed Sheeran. I don't even particularly like his music. But watching him growing up from being tiny with the home videos makes feel very sentimental.

ALemonyPea · 17/11/2018 17:49

Talking to a newborn baby, any newborn baby, for the first time. I always well up.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/11/2018 17:54

Old people holding hands. Always makes me hope we live long enough to get really old and that we’ll still want to walk around hand in hand. I don’t think people do it unless they really like each other and it’s so nice to see.

Echobelly · 17/11/2018 18:01

Anthropomorphic things with sad faces

kennelmaid · 17/11/2018 18:08

starlight45 I'm with you - the way that animals are used and abused, their body parts stacked up on supermarket shelves like there lives were nothing, makes me so sad.

Seeing the little squashed bodies of birds and animals on the road.

glasshouse · 17/11/2018 18:10

@bedhair with you on the cillíni. Especially if you come across them unexpectedly. Always stop and think.

soundsgreektome · 17/11/2018 18:10

Oh. And Ed Sheehan’s video to
Photograph.

Thanks for that!

yawning801 · 17/11/2018 18:11

Talking about dreams I've had, and talking about being prank called. I have no idea why!

Mightybanhammer · 17/11/2018 18:12

Another vote for brass bands. My ( northern) soul music.
I'm not just prickly eyed though. Full on tears but draw the line at screaming Wink

Think of it that the reduction in the chicken's price might make it affordable for someone who couldn't normally buy one. So it might be appreciated much more as a treat, than a full price one that's flung into the trolley without a thought.

scrolling123 · 17/11/2018 18:28

I was shopping in town today and there was a small but enthusiastic brass band paying white Christmas (early I know!). Had to fight back the tears walking into Primark lol x

dontforgettofloss · 17/11/2018 18:33

Bagpipes always get me, and I'm not even Scottish!

museumum · 17/11/2018 18:37

Highland cathedral on the bagpipes.
Olympic medal ceremonies.

afishnotabird · 17/11/2018 18:38

Swelling or just loud music. And when the wee girls sings at the start of Santa Evita.

I used to be a very stoic person, but that's changing the older I get. I could have sobbed at this year's local fireworks display and it was crap!

Don't let me near the Sistine Chapel!

museumum · 17/11/2018 18:40

Talking about the real Christopher Robin and what a shit time he had at school 😢 and so as an extension the end of Winnie the Pooh as I know what’s coming.

missmouse101 · 17/11/2018 18:46

Watching dogs do agility makes me a bit teary!

PrivateParkin · 17/11/2018 18:51

I always cry at brass bands too - any collective music like that is very emotional I agree.

But I also well up at people playing the piano in public - you know how they have pianos anyone can use at St Pancras etc? It's usually strangers obviously, but my nephew played Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer on it last December and I was in pieces!!! It's something about the genuine whole hearted effort and putting yourself out there to be judged by others... or something...

Old school hymns are also guaranteed to have me in tears.
